I'd like to put in a jack post in the cellar to better support a part of my floor. Problem is the concrete basement floor in the area is on a slant, definitely far from level.
Not sure what's the best way to handle it? Any ideas?

IF floor is strong enough, just pour a concrete block right on top of the concrete floor, laid flat and place post on top of that. If not, dig down and pour a footing as needed, flat....James

If your slab is slanting, don't trust it to carry the load... bypass it by cutting a 2'x2' square hole centered beneath the column support area. To give an idea of sizing, a "typical" footing for the columns supporting the center girder of a ranch type home here in jersey is 18"x18"x8" thick... 2 story is 2'x2'x12" thick assuming they're poured on hardpack virgin soil. It's worth the extra $15-$20 for a few extra bags to oversize when in doubt

shin , I really hope you are following what Weed posted. I am a long time builder and he gave great advice.
