Slowly starving herself. She is long hair so I hadnt noticed it until recently. But she gets bit weird in summer heat, finds places to hide outside, and then doesnt come inside to eat. Its gotten difficult to feed cats as raccoons seem on 24/7 guard duty and somehow sense if cat food is put out. Cant put any outside and inside have to stand over bowl with baseball bat until cats eat, then put it up. Difficult with cats that are slow eaters and really just want to pick at their food off and on, all day long. Coons learned to duck in cat door. One hauled whole cat bowl outside! Not to mention occasionally making royal mess inside hunting for food. But too hot to lock cats (or me) inside with windows and everything shut tight. I dont do air conditioning.
Anyway like some older cats in past can be real challenge to get her to eat significant amounts. I had pretty well given up on canned cat food some years back, price kept going up and quality kept going down. So would buy canned salmon sold for humans occasionally for cat treat. They like that. Well she just barely licked couple times at it.
Finally found some old canned cat food in back of cupboard, 9Lives flaked tuna and egg. For while there it was best bang for the buck and cats loved it, then Walmart stopped carrying it. She will eat it, but I only had four can of it left.
So looked on Amazon, and they still carry what seems same or very similar by ingredient list, just slightly different name and label. Over $1 per can OUCH! Half the price on ebay so Just ordered case of it so hope they didnt change the taste. Seems none of places want to just say this is case of 24 cans, they sort of say 4-5.5oz cans then stick a 6 in there somewhere, so hopefully they mean 6x4= 24 cans. Expensive if they didnt mean that. Though suspect other cats would eat it if she doesnt. If nothing else sure the raccoons would....
Next time to town see if I can get a cheap chicken to cook in pressure cooker until meat falls off bone and can it. She should like that. Especially the broth.
