Its my first time owning pigs and I have 4 gilts, 2 of which I will be breeding. The biggest 2 are 5 or 6 months old and around 200 lbs. I was thinking they are ready to be bred but need to know whats a good age or better yet weight to breed them as I dont want them to be to small or wait to long. They are yorkshire's I believe crossed with something because one has a red saddle on its back. I'll be picking up a young hereford/duroc crossed boar this week. Any advice is appreciated.

It depends on the breed more than anything. We have herefords and Hampshires, six months is way early for them... Ten months minimum is what we try to roll with.

We have berkshires and we go with a 8-9 month rule of thumb. They usually weigh around 250 pounds.
