Want to make quilt. If I buy a few yards muslin, and need more, can I buy more? Or, will all muslin have to be purchased at same time? Thanks.

Get a high quality muslin, not a light flimsy type. Talk to the sales person about how much you need. They make muslin in extra wide so that you don't have to have seams on the back of your quilt. If you can't find the extra wide, the sales person will help you determine the length of the pieces you will need. You will need more than you think as the backing will be larger than the top.
Take from a fresh bolt if possible, and take note of the information on that bolt. This way, you can get more fabric from the same bolt, if needed.

Question is, Do I absolutely have to get from same bolt?

It is always best to get what you need from the same bolt. If you get more than you need I am sure you will find a use for it.

It is not absolute. But, muslin comes in different shades and weights. You don't want it to be obvious your pieces are from different bolts.

Talking to the employee measuring some cloth at Joanne's one time, I was told that their bolts contain only 8 yards of material now. Just one of those tacky little bits of conversation that may come in handy at some time.

Question is, Do I absolutely have to get from same bolt? With muslin you should be OK. Just make sure it is the same code number (thread count, etc.)
