There's nothing like inviting the neighbors over for potluck dinner and dominoes to galvanize one into a cleaning frenzy. 😱
I'd fallen off the cleaning and organizing wagon lately and my poor house showed the neglect. I really needed to deep clean, but was having trouble getting enthused about starting the process. After stalling out repeatedly, I finally told my neighbors it was time for a game night and invited them over Saturday. This was on Wednesday!
I worked my tuchus off, and it's taken me a couple days to recuperate, but I have a nice, neat home again. I washed windows, walls and floors, beat and "defurred" area rugs, dusted and wiped down pretty much anything that didn't move, and I've got to admit, it looks pretty darn good. Now all I have to do is maintain each day.
With the house looking good, I was able to tackle the barn yesterday, so I'm riding the wave of success. 😊😋

Oh, I forgot to add, we all had a blast Saturday. Lots of good food, laughter and teasing all around. I am blessed with 2 neighbor couples who are wonderful friends, and we invited another gal that boards her horses next door to us and rides with my DD frequently... she fits right in with the rest of our crazy group.

So glad you had a good time! Sometimes we just need a serious reason to get started cleaning, not just because we should!
I'm beginning to feel the need to do a good autumn cleaning around here, but then I remember that I'm not hosting Thanksgiving this year and my motivation lags!

We invite people to stay.. then spend the week before hand in panic mode! The dogs know that when we get cleaning someone is coming, they get all barky everytime a car passes and keep running to the door/windows! Oh and the neighbours will be coming in a couple of weeks for the annual road meeting.. ACK!

So true. My house always looks its best in the summer because that's when we have 80% of our company. It's rare that a week goes by without someone coming up to visit - and that carries on into October. After that, it's a 6 month visitor drought, except for our son and his family. What, people don't want to visit when the temperatures can hit -30? Shocking.
I did clean the heck out of the house before leaving 12 days ago, and loved coming home to a sparkling clean house. Now to keep that feeling going might be harder since there are no guest expected until December - and most of our neighbors are seasonal so we don't often have neighbors coming by in the off season.

Lol, it's nice to hear I'm not alone! I'm trying hard to keep the house looking like it does right before guests arrive. 😊
