22 is an awesome amount! The participation in this quilt has been overwhelming. We had 12 people, and many of them made 2 blocks. I was going to make two blocks. I ended up having to cut into the second piece of fabric to finish the first block.

Thanks so much! I have been without internet (and I couldn't post with my phone for some reason).
I am very excited to see the blocks and pick the next forum quilt fabric (that's a big responsibility)
It will be wonderful to have a quilt made from the blocks of all my forum friends!

midtnmama, I can't wait to see what you pick for our next fabric. And I know everyone is anxiously waiting pics of the blocks. A little suspense for us all.

The end of March is here, and it's time to draw a winner of all these great blocks. They are all so pretty, they are going make a beautiful quilt. Great job, everyone! The lucky winner is. . . midtnmama!!Congratulations! midtnmama, what you need to do next is to purchase (or pick from your stash, if you wish) 4 yards of fabric for our next quilt. Wash, dry, iron it, and cut 3 yards into 12" squares. Leave the fourth yard whole. Mail the fabric to me. Once I receive the new fabric, I will mail your blocks to you. Hi Kris: I cut the cut 3 yards into 12" squares and have a fourth yard whole of the pretty blue, yellow and white fabric for the next quilt. I would like to make a block of the next quilt although I would not wish to be considered for the drawing of that one. Shall I leave one out for me and send the rest? Thanks, MTM (lucky winner!)

Most definitely keep a piece for yourself to make a block out of. Can't wait to see the fabric you picked. It sounds lovely.

If Kris knows how, she could upload them. If not, I'll try to learn once I receive them.
I am hoping to make my block for the next quilt today so I can mail the fabric and my finished block tomorrow.

The photos are usually posted after the winner receives them. That way they are a surprise to the winner.

I will make sure to take pictures of all the blocks before I send them off to midtnmama once the new fabric arrives. After she confirms receipt of her package, pictures will be posted. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

You are the best, Kris!
I thought it would be wise to send my finished block (for the next quilt) with the fabric, but needed to redo one seam because it came up short. God willing, I can get to the post office tomorrow!

Congtas mtnmama! I always enjoy reading and following! Exactly how does it work again? This is how it works: each person is sent a square of fabric that is the coordinating fabric for the overall quilt. You use that material and add to it complimentary material to make a finished 12 1/2" square block of any pattern. All the finished blocks are sent in and a name is drawn from all the people who made a block. For as long as they have done this (20 years?) I have longed to participate. I finally had time to do so and guess what? I won!! Now I can make a quilt that has memories of my many friends on this forum. It's a fun activity that gets the creative juices going. I could see how some may use it to try out a new pattern that they don't necessarily want to do a whole quilt from.

Pretty, pretty fabric from midtnmama arrived today! (Actually, I had to go pick it up at the post office and today was the day I had time to go in that direction).
You guys are going to love it!
I'm hoping to get all the blocks from this quilt mailed off to her yet this week. So that means hopefully pictures can be posted by the end of next week!

krisinmi, MIL and I can't wait to see them! The block I sent you is a new version (stupidly easy!) of bow tie block pattern that my MIL showed me. We liked it so much, we are working on another bow tie quilt now. Glad you liked the new fabric and were not too inconvenienced to pick up at the post office.

Sorry to report that my trusty rusty (literally) suburban broke this morning, so I'm stranded at home and won't be able to get to the post office to mail blocks before Monday or Tuesday. Bummer. Hate to keep midtnmama and everyone waiting to see the great blocks we all made.

Thanks for posting that, midtnmama, it is a very easy way to put the bowties together without all the trimming and squaring! I avoid HSTs whenever I can. Since I hand quilt, I think I'd quilt along the edge of that flap to hold it down. With my luck, it would catch on something and tear out a seam. Here's a link that goes directly to the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBgounFTF0M

The quilt blocks are here and boy oh boy are they stunning! Your talent stuns me!
This was my first time and somehow didn't include the informational sheet which were very fun to read, indeed!
I laughed that one of you (I won't say who...) mentioned that there was a lot of ripping out, recutting, resewing and cursing that went into their block!
MZGarden, I now see why you were interested in the stupidly easy bow tie quilt.
I learned about quilt blocks I'd never seen before. I had a hard time getting to 12 1/2 inches exactly--I liked that a few of you made the block and then made a "frame" to make it 12 1/2 exactly. Very smart and something I may do in the future!
If I am to post pictures, it will take some time for me to figure out how to do that.
Thank you to Kris for putting this together (such joy) and to each of you for your contribution. I appreciate it all!!!

krisinmi, If you post them on facebook you can then post them here. They have to be somewhere online to load here. If you can't figure it out let me know and if they are on facebook I can move them here.

My blocks were a bit boring but what I do is make them a little larger than they need to be then I use my 12 1/2 inch square and trim them to the right size.

Melissa, I assure you that none of the blocks were boring, yours included! It's nice to know how you did them (making them larger, then trim to right size). That was the only way I could do it, but felt like a failure that I did so. Nice to know another person used this technique.

I left my blocks over 12 1/2 inches so the winner can work them where another block might be too small.
