I am so heart broken, woke up Easter Morning and went out to do morning chores, Ruby my pig was lying dead in her pen, I have no answers as to why, I have never had a pig die before, she did have a minor cough and I treated her for it. She didn't eat Saturday and that told me something was wrong but what I am clueless....again so heartbroken here.....

We usually have around 175 adult ewes running around here, that doesn't include the lambs.......some days I wish freezer camp could give me a break once in a while , Not really they are no trouble, ours are hair sheep so no shearing and that is a plus!

Hair sheep tend to be a bit more of a pain in the butt, love Black Suffolks tend to be of a fairly good nature, merino are about the worst though. The important part though is this

Back in the olden days when I was a kid, we had thousands of rambouillet sheep. It has been a very long time since we have had sheep in the freezer. We have a neighbor who has hair sheep of one kind or another. Unfortunately sheep or pigs are instant bear magnets here in the north. We tell this neighbor keep up the good work as it keeps the bears away from our place.
