Mistakenly put in an unbalanced load the other day. Now whenever it spins it sounds like metal shrieking as it scrapes against metal.
I'm going to open it up and see if it's some sort of obvious fix.
Never had to fix one before though. Any suggestions?

shin, ours broke this past year. I put the model number and manufacturer into google, then looked through the youtubes on repairs. Some types of machines are expensive to fix like 150 in parts, some are really cheap to fix, 35 dollars in parts. So with ours it was a very expensive fix and we decided to talk with a guy that fixes washing machines as a money making hobby for retirement. He validated that the one we had was not worth fixing. We bought a rehabbed one, with easier fixes, if/when it breaks.

Our 15-year old washing machine was making a terrible racket, so I took it apart to find out the problem was. I found out it was a cheap plastic part that had broken. When I went to buy the replacement part, the salesman say they always break. They sold so many of these parts that they had a display of them right next to the cash register. I was surprised to see that the new part was beefed up with metal inserts (below).
