I was sitting out in the sunroom tonight - as I usually do. I had the lights on late and heard a lot of banging on the windows behind me. After awhile it stopped and I turned around and saw the most beautiful moth (in my opinion). After "Googling" I discovered it was a Luna Moth. Not the best pic... Yeah, after doing some reading I find that they only live for around a week at this stage. That kind of saddens me. But, on the other hand I feel very privileged that I have finally seen one... ~Mari

I agree it's a good looking moth, I've never seen one before, it's a privilege!

I had one come to my spruce tree years ago. It's wings were pretty beat up, so I guessed it was near the end of its life. Still lovely in a haunting sort of way.

They are beautiful at night or day. A 6 inch moth looks like a little angel. Many years ago I found a cocoon and brought it in the house. When it hatched we took it outside.. such an experience, I love those beautiful creatures.

I think I saw one once. If they only spend one week as a butterfly, no wonder.

We used to see them when we lived north of Houston. We also had cecopia (?) moths. They would sit on the west side of the barn for some reason, earily in the am.

I just got around to looking up the above... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyalophora_cecropiaWow!! I would love love love to see one of those - bein's the females have been documented to have a wingspan of 5 to 7 inches or more. Interesting to learn that those beauties only survive for around two weeks... ~Mari
