Can this be given safely to dogs? I am treating my girl for skin yeast infection, she is on lamasil, plus anti yeast baths. I have to have help to get her to the vet again, and I don't have it. I can order fish, but not dog antiboitic online, is this something I should consider? Saw it mentioned somewhere, so thought I would ask

Assuming dogs are the same as people, antibiotics typically cause yeast infections.
I treat our dogs hot spots with iodine. They hate the taste of it and quit incessantly licking the spot so it can heal.
I wonder if the other medicinal properties of iodine would help with yeast issues. Might be worth a search.

Thanks, but she would have to take a bath in it. Her immune system is shot because of a ingestible flea med. She has a complete yeast body problem. I treat her, vet and I, and it gets better..then worse. Reading online, seemed to think that she had a bacterial infection too. She is such a sweetheart, I just hate to think this is a life long problem. Suggested a all natural food diet, but she is one of three. She loves vegetables, but online suggests sugar in them is bad. Sorry this is long,I am about at my Witt's end !

Are you bathing with Malaseb? This is what I used on a poor dog from a puppy mill with callouses from flea bites and mange. He loved it. I also gave him supplemental Vitamin C. 1/8 tsp per day for a 20 pound dog. You could probably give it twice a day.
Some antibiotics you can use on different species. Check the name of the fish antibiotic and look it up for dogs.

Maura, that is the shampoo I have on my next order from Chewey ! The two I have seem to be making her hurt worse last times I ve bathed. Vit c sounds good, I had been giving her peppermint for upset tummy, but says to cut off all sugar! The vet gave her a five day med few weeks ago, but bottle wasn't labeled, and too short term. Everyone, I appreciate all suggestions, this girl is one of the mini pins that was dumped on me the day after hubby died. 7 years ago !!!!

I used the Malaseb about four years ago. You could only get it from a vet. The vet was a dermatology specialist. Using the Malaseb was the only help she gave me. What are you feeding the dog? A food change could help.

They have been on Diamond dog food since they came. I had them on chicken and rice formula, but changed to Salmon since. I think I will go back to chicken, and just add salmon oil to the feed, since it doesn't seem to have made a difference, and chicken is a bit more reasonable priced.

Fridayveve June 14, she just had her first math in malaseb, my ten minutes is along time to keep a wet little girl on the floor of the shower. I used a timer, only difference is it is unscented, unlike the ad said, but might be or the best. So, today, she has had her Lamasil, a aspirin, and a bath. Another unusual, label says once a week, while add said twice. I so hope this works, situation is getting desperate at this point, Thanks, Everyone!

The Fish Mox/Fish Flex antibiotics work great! I use them myself. Can't afford to go running to the doc every time I need a pill.
