This is the beginning of cucumbers for us. 4 little cucumbers.
I feel like we are completely behind everyone in gardens.
Last year we pickled a lot of them and I'm sure we will do that again. We made some emirals sweet/sour and a simple dill pickle. Our neighbor behind us took a little bit of our extra cucumbers, but stopped at 3 jars (THREE JARS, omg, let's start with 30 jars then talk). My goodness, we eat pickles more than that.
We have some young parent neighbors, they will be the victims of our 'more cucumbers', next.
The vines are beautiful, they have, no exaggeration, 1000 flowers.
DS has a penchant for cucumber salad. Thinly sliced cucumbers, sit that in some water and salt for a few hours, then drain. Chop some onions, add that to cucumbers, add some dill weed. A little vinegar and S & P, and I'm happy. DS likes it with some sour cream mixed in.
Besides tomatoes, cucumbers come in a pretty good second place.

15 jars of sweet pickles, and another dozen jars of bread&butter, so far. Will have another 15 jars of sweet pickles coming off this week. We don't eat that many sweet pickles, we give some away. Just don't care for dill pickles, so we don't do them. To me, pickles will seem like a little bit of summer, when you open them up this winter....

this year I let my cucumbers go to seed very soon in the season, so they are just now starting to produce again.

Some nasty mold got my cucs. They were doing great at the start, then BAM! Die off. I just planted some seed yesterday. Glad we can get in a Fall garden here. BTW, I'm with feather's hubs. Sour cream all the way!

@pony, when we start seeing a yellowing of the tomato leaves from the bottom going up, we usually also see the cucumber leaves do that too. We spray with an anti-fungal. Is that what you mean?

Just made cucumber salad last night, tomato, cucumber, onion with Italian dressing. I also like refrigerator pickles, cucumber, onion, Mrs Dash, equal parts vinegar and water....James

An armload of cucumbers. Time to get the cooler out on the deck, fill it with cold water and keep them cool until I have brine made. I usually give them a day or two soak and it seems to take off a little bitter edge and keep them crispy when I make pickles.

What I'm talking about is the powdery dusty look the leaves get.

I'm soaking my cucumber slices and onion slices in ice cold salt water to eat them later in a salad. As I was cutting them up I came across one mutant joined from the stem to blossom, siamese twins. I just couldn't cut it up.
