Someone smarter than me needs to explain this to me. Was in Walmart recently getting lids. We looked at the new jars and there was a insert on top of the jars. Which stated "now keeps canned food sealed up to 18 months"..wth does this mean, more sealer or what..sealed is sealed right....

They might have increased the rubber seal material, or, they might just want a new sales gimmick. I bet everyone here had canning that's stayed sealed for several, or many years. I don't see any reason for a properly sealed jar to come unsealed unless the contents started letting of gas, meaning it didn't reach the proper temperature, in which case you wouldn't want to eat it anyway.
Just a guess, but they probably got a new advertising agency.

Wally, we started seeing those inserts on our jars, back in 2017 and they are still putting that insert in the jars. I was told back then, the metal and the sealant are the same as before, no more or less. Since I've already canned with those lids, they are fine for more than 12 months and I would guess for more than 18 months too.
