Hello all.... I have been away (from the boards) for a while. I drop in occasionally.
Happy Birthday to all of you I missed sending a "Birthday Wish to".
I have been prepping as much as I can. I do some weekly. My wife is "on again and off again" on an almost daily basis. I need to hide my preps. It is getting harder to find places. Said last week, "I know you hide food from me". I didn't reply. Add it all up, including my med preps and food preps and there many hundreds of dollars worth and that doesn't include the cash money.
I buy almost weekly when price leader sales hit items I need and I have some cash. No, I don't use house hold money. Only my one son knows where the items are or "maybe". I told him if something happens to me and I die, look every where. Leave no place un-searched. I pointed some places out just to give him an idea of what I was talking about. He was very surprised.
I was having trouble keeping an inventory of what I bought. The lightbulb in my brain finally came on, "Keep all the register receipts". Duuhhh, ya think maybe?
My friend in England whom I call, "My sister from another mother", has become a prepper. Her friend is a prepper and neighbor. I strongly suggested she keep on prepping regardless of "how much she she thinks she already has". She said, "I am alone and a small person. I don't eat that much". But she remains on track. Thank you Jesus. So I check in now and then and I am still around. I pray all of you are well. Peace BASS

NJ Rich glad you are well! Missed hearing about your adventures. Good idea about the receipts, just have an additional idea...On the top or bottom of the receipts write what you bought and the amount. A lot of receipts fade in a few months. Don't you need another garden shed? Perhaps one with a false back wall for your lawnmower and tools? Also, our Lowe's has several very large tool boxes on sale that would make dandy places to store your "stuff".

Another Idea for keeping track of food items; I run a small food pantry for my church. Each week I take photos of it to see where the gaps are and thus, what I need to replace/purchase. I also then have the dated photos (thank you Iphone) to show me patterns of what we need in each month.
Take a photo of what you buy while at the store before you hide it. Keep the photos on your phone and occasionally print out as black and whites and delete the old photos. THen you have a record for your son. ON the hard copies you could write where you hid the stuff.
GOOD to have you back.

NJ Rich, regardless of phone, you could load to the cloud before you delete (and tag/add notes) -- not all cloud services are equal. I do have my pictures backed up on the cloud. Not sure if you can password protect iPhoto but you could also store on your computer (and 'tag' pictures) using iPhoto or other means. At a minimum, you can password protect documents and files/folders. Of course you wouldn't leave in on the desk top, the file/folder would be buried a few layers into some other folder. Hard copy anything is subject to fading, physical loss, and/or damage (fire, water). A portable drive (think cigarette lighter size) can store a lot of information. And can be password protected from prying eyes. IF one has the means, storing documents, pictures etc. is best done on a computer that you *never* use to connect to the internet. And are ever vigilant about from where you'd copy documents, pictures etc (aka no transferring a virus).

Glad to hear you're still prepping along. We miss you on here. Try and stop in more often, okay?
Hope all is well with you and yours.
God Bless

Thank you all for your ideas and input. Have a good day as Solemn as this day is and we all remember.
Our neighbor three houses down was a member of one of the Yonkers, NYC Fire Dept. Units. It was his day off and he was spared. He lost all the others in his Unit that responded to the World Trade Centers.
My cousins cousin was at one of the neighboring office buildings. He went outside and saw people jumping off the burning Center's buildings. He will never forget those awful sights.
Peace be with all of you.... NJ Rich

Good to see you posting again, Rich. Remembering that day-a deep-blue cloudless sky still gives me a chill. Thanks for starting this thread. Good ideas. Make sure you rotate perishables: food, batteries, etc. No use spending on something you can't find or is outdated when needed. BTDT

Missed you, Rich. I'm not online much anymore either, but still holding the course. Be well.
