Woke up to a white deck - nice, even coating of snow on the deck floor and rails. Maybe a half an inch or so. The temperature was above freezing when I got up, and the snow has almost completely melted since that time.
The "pier guys" are coming out today to take out the pier. They wear chest waders, but last month when dh and I removed the boat lift, we were wearing chest waders and the water at the end of the pier went over the top of my waders. I do not envy them one bit.

mogal ,Wow those are big! What if they are not fibrous? How will you put them up? We had another frost close call 33 deg F last night. Tonight the forecast is for a low of 29 deg F. Hi, Feather. The patch was near an old compost pile so the soil was rich and loose. Regardless, I was really surprised to find such a big one. I've pressure canned and dehydrated sweet potato so no problem there. I don't have freezer space but I bet that would work too.

I just checked: Average first frost for my wide spot in the road is Oct 10-20th. We got ours on the 11th. Next week I will pull up the tomato cages and clear that ground. Pole beans can now be cleared and the dry beans put away. Mowing will end and I can work in the shop, do a few repairs that need attention.
