Gathering kindling I saw a tail. Thinking it was a ringneck brown snake I picked up. Broad head, ut oh... no ring, broad pattern of checks. Cool enough it wasn’t moving fast. It lost its head and I continued picking up kindling, remembering that the neighbor found one too. So if there are babies, parents must be around too. The last copperhead I saw was well over 50 years ago.
