November 26th 72°
We are pretty much cold weather wimps.
But then millions of people from up north keep moving down here and don't seem to be in any hurry to go back.
I worry that if we keep getting more and more people and 40° latitude states keep losing people that the country will seesaw with the north up high and the south down low.

32 degrees here today and we are awaiting a nice winter storm that will bring about a foot of snow. We were southerners that moved north to a much more rural environment (Northern Minnesota)......but taxes are terribly high and this state is pretty much run by the liberals who believe in taking from one group to give to another...so, we're heading back south. I will miss the cold, long winters and all of the snow; ice fishing, snowshoeing, and such.

For us, a long, cold winter rejuvenates our souls.

For us, a long, cold winter rejuvenates our souls. In my younger days I had bromances with Robert Service and Jack London, but like other romances, those opportunities have come and gone. Bleakness and barreness have their own place. Struggling and surviving in those places where we were not intended to be has got to be both inspiring and confidence building. I understand why the native Americans were so connected to animal life around them. The animals had the strengths and smarts to withstand the harsh world in which they lived and the people took on those strengths and smarts to themselves. Even so, a hundred years ago and more very few people survived to be my age above the 40° latitude. I have a profound awe of the physical and mental stamina of those who did.

In the 40's here. Good day to cook & bake. We have high winds coming so hopefully we don't lose power.

42 here now...going to get very windy tonight & tomorrow. All they're talking about are the balloons in the Thanksgiving day parade. Too windy, they can't fly. Tomorrow in the 30's.

Temp has been falling all day - it started off at 48° this AM and is 37° at the moment. Light rain with a west wind around 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Sometimes it gets a little nerve wracking living in a woods. Not looking forward to going out to the coops I must say! ~Mari

We have winds 50-60 mph here today. Our Premier1 fencing is all laying on the ground. On the 'up' side, I am canning beans and making calendula salve.
