i would like to have poultry but the predators are many. The foxes were the cause of the loss of have my chicken and my broken hip.
So if I get cattle panels and cover them with poultry wire (I could move the pens this way) and for the top use bird netting ..would this keep the foxes away? I could also use an electric wire.
There are hawks and owls also.... the female panther is keeping her distance but the male isn’t..
I do not like loosing ( who does?) so with the predators I have will this work or should I forget it?

The many predators in our area are kept out only through combinations of 1/2" hardware cloth AND regular cattle panel fencing or chicken fencing. We planned for years till moving to our homestead to raise meat birds 25 at a time 2x/year.
We decided not to go forward with poultry as we must travel weekly to help along aging family members so would not be here at key times. Also the flies, mucking out, and wild bird migratory pathways AND bird flu hit our state hard. Luckily, we can get organic eggs very cheaply through friends. Good luck!

Last fall we lost a goose to a fox that climbed over 8' chain link into the paddock, killed the goose when it got its feet tangled in the kiddie pools there. Then climbed out over the 8' fence. I didn't witness this, but a family member did.. I could not get ready in time to intervene in the issue..
However I did use the goose carcass to bait the big 6' long live trap.. And took care of business later..
We also have lost chickens to great horned owls.. This was in the middle of the day, so when we went to do chores in the afternoon, there was nothing left but the skeleton.
Life in the bush can be harsh...
