Now that we've all had a chance to relax after the rush of holiday gift making, who is ready to do a quick and easy project? Just one (or two if you'd like) quilt block. It's time for another forum quilt! midtnmama was our winner of quilt #4, and she has chosen some fabric great for lifting spirits out of the winter doldrums. I can't wait to sew with it. Who would like to join me? It's very simple: To each person who signs up, I will send a 12" square of fabric. Using that fabric, and any other fabrics you like, you will sew a quilt block of any pattern you desire, as long as it finishes at 12.5 inches square. Please wash and dry all fabrics you use (forum fabric has all ready been prewashed), but please do not use fabric softener. Mail your block back to me by March 31st to be eligible for the drawing. Please make sure to put enough postage on it, and allow up to ten days for delivery (yes, sometimes it does take that long, USPS only knows why. . . ) For each block received by the deadline, I will enter the name of the member who created it into the drawing, and then draw a winner at random after the deadline of March 31st. The winning name will be posted on this thread, so don't forget to check back to see if you might be the lucky winner! The person whose name is drawn at random will receive all the blocks. The winner is responsible for supplying (either purchase or use stash fabric) four yards of fabric for the next forum quilt and must mail me that fabric. Once the new fabric has been received, I will send the winner the blocks they won, plus an extra yard of the forum fabric to use in finishing their quilt. Please sign up on this thread, then PM me your mailing address so that I can get the fabric mailed out to you. Quilters of all levels (even " I've been thinking about it but never tried it") are welcome to join in.

I got mine today. I have a quilt waiting for the long arm work to be done made out of that fabric. I just love it. Perhaps I will just make the same block for this project.

I have not had my computer for a month now. I finally broke down and bought a new one and had the guy who was trying to fix my old one transfer the data to the new one. Whew!
I received my fabric and was happily stunned. I have that same fabric! Think I will make a star.

katievt, Melissa, Billie, mzgarden, Maura, janinco, farmchix, jlynnp, Cindy in NY, how is the sewing going? I hope everyone has received their fabric by now. If not, let me know, there might still be time to get another piece mailed out. I was able to work on my blocks last week. For one, I used a cute pattern from a book I was gifted last fall. Came out a hair small, so I added a slim border to bring it up to size. Hoping the winner won't mind.

krisinmi, I did get the fabric. It's pretty! My grandmother gave me a whole pile of quilting magazines, which I've looked through and have several ideas for blocks. I've been pretty busy, so haven't started on the blocks yet. Hoping to get to it on Saturday - we will see! My GEMS girls' group is having a sleepover at Church Friday night/Saturday morning. There is about 20 1st-6th graders! I may need to crash!

krisinmi, I have got as far as picking out the blocks I want to make! My daughter is down with the flu so I have been going over and getting the grands off to school and picking them up after school, doing homework, getting dinner, baths, then into bed (them and me!) and starting all over the next day! She is on the mend so hopefully, next week I can get to the sewing machine.

I didn't participate this time, didn't get fabric, but got tagged. I can't wait to see everyone's blocks! Whoops! Next time I should actually read the names before hitting the button to tag "all". One of these days, I'll finally become computer literate. Nah, everytime I get it figured out, and upgrade comes along and changes things. *Sigh*, gonna stick with plants and animals and fabric and yarn.

Maura, your block has arrived. Love your coordinating fabrics. I need more blender fabric like that in my stash.

The center of the star is a piece of fabric that I have had as a leftover for years. I am putting together a class on stash busting/scrap organizing and when I made the star I realized that I could add a quilt of many colored stars to the sample collection. You could just make stars of the same or different sizes as you created more leftovers.

Good grief, I have lost my paper that I drew the blocks on that I wanted to do. I will do my best to try and find it or do something else. Grandkid's school is shutting down and going to online classes so this grandma will be with the kids on the days my daughter works and it will at their house so no sewing.
Where oh where, art thou, you silly piece of paper?
