Hi all,
I live in a small town in Kansas and I have the worst neighbor possible. So I am going to put up a 47" tall woven wire fence. It will be 150' long. I am using 5" x 8' treated posts at the corners. They will be H braced . I am thinking 8' wide for the H brace. So that roughly leaves 135' feet between the H braces. The ground is flat. I plan on using T posts. So the questions I have are what should the spacing be between the T posts? How deep do the T posts need to be driven in the ground? Since I am not trying to keep any animals in do I need to use any wooden posts on this 150' run?
Thanks,Doug

One other question. If the fence is 47" high. How high should I place the horizontal brace in the H brace?
Thanks

If you have the worst neighbor possible, please put your fence a few inches inside of the lot line. That way he can't attach anything to it, or do anything else he may think of. If it's on the lot line, in many places, the laws change.

If it's on the lot line, in many places, the laws change. Our properties is separated by what used to be an alley about 30 years ago. Now it is just a 15 foot wide grassy spot. Next spring I am going to plant hedges all along the fence. That way I won't have to see or smell him in 2 to 3 years.

One other question. If the fence is 47" high. How high should I place the horizontal brace in the H brace? Thanks I usually place mine between the top wire and the one under it. I was thinking that would be the way to do it. I have been looking at fences as I drive down the road. They are all done different. It is a wonder some of them are still standing! I'm trying to do this right the first time so I won't have to do it again. Thanks So Much, Doug

I don't think much of welded wire in this video but you will need one of these to pull your wire. I made one of those out of some oak 2x4's.

.........My advise would be to use 2.5" outside diameter galvanized metal posts like they use on chain link fence and space your posts 8 feet apart for both Hbraces . Also , you should install a Diagional brace between posts on each Hbrace . Without the diagional braces , the Hbrace can collapse in the direction from which you stretched your wire . Try and make your holes 3 feet deep and 9 inches in diameter if at all possible . A 9 inch diameter hole ~ 3 feet deep will need 2-80# sacks of sackcrete to fill it up . .........Make your fence 5 feet high , 47 inch wire and 2 runs of Barbed wire spaced 6 inches apart . Let the cement cure for several days before stretching your wire . , fordy

Were I in your shoes with "terrible" neighbors, I would plant those wonderfully thorny rose bushes close enough to each other to form an impenatrable hedge.

Dude; First, laws in Kansas may be different, but in Arkansas and OK, if you put your fence inside your line, after so many years your adjoining landowner will own that land---in short, the fence can become the property line. If the alley is no longer in use, check with your city government and see if you can buy or use that land, and put your fence in the middle or on HIS side of the road. If you don't he very well may and you'll find him closer than you want---who is mowing and using that patch of ground now? Second, is all you want is a stretch of net fence 150 feet long, connected to nothing? What purpose does that serve?
