I really wish I could find such goodies locally, but alas, all of mine come from online suppliers.

Becka03, what don't you like about ingesting EO's? I have a friend selling doTerra and she recommended I try a few drops of lemon or wild orange oil in a glass of water, to flavor it. Is that dangerous? I tried it once and it irritated my acid reflux so I'll probably just diffuse it next time.
So far I have the wild orange oil, frankincense, and "balance" which is a mix I use in a diffuser. I've not tried anything topically yet. . . still trying to learn about it all.
Would love any insight/advice you all might have about EO's.

Would love any insight/advice you all might have about EO's. I second this. The world of EOs is vast and intimidating to people like me who are wanting to start. Based on reviews and articles I had read it seemed companies like doTerra or YL were the safest route to go, especially when considering ingesting them. I've wanted to start with a few basic ones like lemon, peppermint etc but been intimidated about diving in. I have no interest in diffusing at this time as from what I understand that's more to help with the mood (relaxation), make the home smell better, and such. I'm more interested in EOs for the natural healing elements and some of that at least is via ingesting specific tiny amounts, so for this reason I am vary of buying cheaper brands because I don't want to poison my family. On the flip side, if a modestly priced brand is going to do the same thing then yes saving money is awesome! I am also interested in EOs for the cleaning side of things. Lots of homemade cleaning products from shampoos to countertop cleaners mostly involve EOs, which is pretty darn cool. I checked out the MMS site posted and curious to see if you have ever used those by ingesting them. I assume for topical use, use in cleaners, diffusing, they would work fine.

Just in case anyone still reads this thread. My girlfriend gifted me with my first essential oils this Christmas yay . Brand is Plant Guru so not a MLM as far as I know so potency shouldn't matter. But I did get a headache yesterday. I took a drop of peppermint oil and rubbed it between my index fingers and rubbed it on both sides of my temple and my headache went away within 15 minutes I want to say. I didn't time it but it was such good fast relief and a homeopathic, drug-free one!! I am just so excited that my first ever "natural" thing I tried with my first ever EOs actually worked!! So they are not a myth or hype to me anymore. If any of you have any tried and tested things EOs have worked for so successfully I would love to hear of them. The first six I've come to own are Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Lavender, Orange and Rosemary. Seriously sooo excited. Is it weird that I can't wait for my son to get his next cut so I can try Tea tree or lavender drops on his wound to see if it works?! LOL

Star Anise (Illicium verum) is different than Anise seed (Pimpinella anisum) Be sure which of them you have. Star anise is the one in Tamiflu. I know this is a older thread, but it has got me interested. Are you talking about essential oils? I did a search and came up with a powder and oil. Before I ask this I am not asking medical advice But how you would use either one of these. I love essential oils and trying to learn all I can. Thank you so much, Candy

Old thread I know but I just noticed it.
I keep bees and get stung fairly often and the best thing I've found to stop the pain, swelling and itching is a drop of YL Purification oil followed by a drop of Lavender rubbed in.
Stops it immediately for me. I use the same stuff on tick bites.
We also use Thieves oil spray for sore throats and Thieves cleaner for some things. It kills mildew without harming fabric and it worked great on some mildew on our Pop-up camper.

I love having lavender, tea tree oil, & eucalyptus on hand. During this pregnancy those three have been a godsend!!! Peppermint as well. Some days the only thing to give me even a small bit of relief is burning one of these oils in the diffuser. The medicinal smell of tea tree and eucalyptus I found to be very soothing and helpful a lot of days. Peppermint has also been great for headaches. Just rub them on finger tips and in circles on both sides of my temple and it bring fast and soothing relief!
