OK, so my last roo goes to freezer camp tomorrow which leaves the roo tractor free for rabbits. (after I add a sheet of wire mesh to the bottom) Our grass grows April to October, so about half the year, we don't get any snow to talk about, and yearly temps range from +30C (rare) to -10C (also rare this year it was -5C to +25C) (numbers in F 86,14,23,77) That's it. the house has two doors one on either side (opposite corners) plan is to divinde the house in the middle and also put a fence across the middle under the house to split it into two seperate areas. Jess here is modeling for scale, she's a 40lb collie/lab cross, these rabbits are also pretty much entirely for her benifit! And ignore the bucket.. they broke my nice pretty ramp! SO my questions are, if any of you do use trators, how much extra feed do your little hairballs eat when they have grass? Will the temperature range be acceptable? (there's no wild rabbits here) I do have a barn but don't really want to put them in there in the winter, and it's not any warmer anyway! How many rabbits would you say to get 6lb a week in meat and bones?

Hello. I wondered if you could tell us what you've decided? My silver foxes are in tractors, but in the pole barn. Mine's not really any warmer than the outside, either, but it will help protect the kits from drafts, and keep me from having to tend to the rabbits thigh-high in snow drifts. Best, Kathy

Skandi. My rabbits do well in the temperature range you listed and my growing season is the same too. They live in a shelter with a sound roof, garden fencing from 4-8 ft and plywood (to prevent drafts in winter) on the bottom 4ft. I have silver fox and champagne rabbits. My last round of kits dressed out at 3 lbs/ea. They get mostly pellets and were 10-12 weeks old. I am sure there are breeds that grow faster than mine, but mine will happily eat every weed and leaf I give them and that is a useful trait to me. I had a couple silver fox does in tractors and the tractors bent the grass so the bunnies couldn't eat it. I ended up adding hay everyday, so I moved them back to bàrn cages.
