Well done, everyone! My ambition is still greater than my body's endurance. Got a bit of the den sorted, and a bit of the master bedroom done, but nowhere near what I'd planned to do today. Lots of coughing, not much working. Guess I'm not quite over this bug after all.

Wait for it....wait for it.....Not only did I finish stripping the wallpaper in the master bedroom, but I also got it painted! I even painted the upstairs hallway and the hallway going down the stairs. You have no idea how excited I am. We set up "our" bed and I got to sleep in it for the first time since June. (We've been sleeping in a spare bedroom.)
So, now I just have to dust all the furniture and I can unload some totes! Woot Woot!

Flylady tasks Week of Dec 27, 2015 Declutter the room first! Spend 15 minutes a day in the following tasks, then, if your room is in good shape and you have more time, attack the detailed cleaning list. Remember, this is not about perfection or shaming because you didn't get it all done. This is about eating the elephant one bite at a time.
Mon:15 min. decluttering Tues:dust the decorative objects in your room (I always forget to do the frames on the wall) Wed:Quick vacuum Thurs:Clear the hotspots and put away the things that got dumped there. Fri:We are in Zone 1 for one day this week, that is the Front Porch, the Entrance area and the Dining Room. Today you are to sweep your front porch area around your front door. Shake out your welcome mats and wipe down your front door.
Do not get overwhelmed by this list! Do not expect to get it all done this month. Print the list out for your planner. I keep the list in sheet protectors. Then I can mark off what I have done with a highlighter.
Living Room/Family Room/Den Detailed Cleaning List Clean cobwebs Clean windows Straighten bookcases Wash ornaments and knick-knacks Clean out end table Straighten closets/ drawers Wipe fingerprints from walls Polish furniture Clean out magazine racks Clean phone Clean under cushions Clean out fireplace Move furniture and vacuum Shampoo carpet

Hope you're all better soon, manygoatsnmore . But please take it easy until you are. Cleaning and organizing will always be there waiting...for all of us. Okay, we're in another room/zone - living room this week. Seems like I just did the living room zone but judging by how it looks, that can't be true. I'll start by what I don't have to do (whittling down the list makes me feel like it's more doable!): No bookcases. Only knick-knacks are wooden duck and fish decoys along the fireplace, so a quick dusting will do it, no washing necessary. Cedar walls show no fingerprints - so if I don't see fingerprints, they're not there, right? No magazine racks, no carpet or rugs so I can cross carpet cleaning and vacuuming off the list. My husbands is obsessive about cleaning out the fireplace totally before each use. Yippee and a gold star to him on that one. Our main phone is the cell phone that lives in my purse, and I do wipe that down frequently. We don't have a land line or any phone sitting out in the living room. On to what IS on my list for today: Sweeping the floor. That's an at-least-once-a-day thing here, so no gold star for that. And that replaces vacuuming. I WILL dust the decorative objects - and yes I forget the picture frames on the wall, too. I will get out my Wanda Wooly duster and dust all the walls (which replaces wall washing). While cedar boards don't show fingerprints, they DO collect more dust than I would ever have thought possible. Guess I should smack at a few cobwebs while I'm at it. Where DO they keep coming from? Hey, wait a minute. I have a living room on the main level and a family room on the lower level. You mean I have to do BOTH of those? Yikes. I'll sweep and dust downstairs in the family room for tomorrow's goals. I hope.

Our welcome mat has been moved with the hopes the snow melts off. Wiping down my front door (exterior) won't be happening til April!

I didn't tell the Hubs that I have today off. Our company decided to give us all New Year's Eve off with pay. (Gotta love a family-run company) Now that I have the master done, I am going to clean/organize the other bedroom that will eventually be a part of the master. We will be knocking out walls this Summer, but until then it has been a hot mess full of totes. It will make me oh-so-happy to start the New Year with a little more organization around here. I can't wait until we finish the shop, so I can get some of this put away. It makes me *ouchy*.

You'll love your enlarged master bedroom. We turned the two main floor bedrooms in a bigger master bedroom with a 8' X 12' (W/L) walk-in closet.

Our old house had a huge master, but two small closets. We are expanding the two largest bedrooms into a big master with two walk-in closets. The trade-off is that instead of a HUGE bathroom like we had at the old place, we will have a large jack and jill bathroom that is the only bathroom in the upstairs. With only having the Hubs and I living here, it shouldn't be an issue - only when we have company.

Family room to-do for today: Sweep hardwood floor. Dust furniture and train set on wall. This is the only big room in the house that doesn't have cedar tongue and groove walls. It had 70's style thin panelling, which we removed earlier this year and replaced with drywall. But despite having drywall, there are no fingerprints that I can see (that room doesn't get much use in winter) and since we only "created" it last winter/this past spring it hasn't really had time to get seriously messed up. Oh, and the family room "fireplace" is electric and doesn't need to be cleaned out, ever. But it could use a dusting. Tomorrow starts a new zone, huh? I have to agree with @selena, I'll be sweeping some light snow off the porch. It wasn't enough to shovel, but it's light and fluffy so the outdoor broom should work well.

I've cleaned out all the registers, scrubbed baseboards and window sills, swept and mopped the hardwood....feeling accomplished. Now, I am finally off to shower and relax....and fold laundry. While I am down there, I will tidy up the laundry room and clean out the washer filter. It is almost the first of the month afterall.
