Has anyone made year-round wreaths they keep hanging ? I'd love to see pictures for inspiration. Every holiday season I just love the wreath on our front door and hate taking it down! I leave it til Feb 1 I always tell myself I'm going to get some wire and make one from the pine cones and things I have on hand but have yet to Do it. I'm determined to give it a try this year!

@jwal10, I did Not think of grape vines for making a base-shape and that is a Great idea! I have plenty to fancy up my front door wreath with but didn't know how I'd Begin it. Thanks a bunch. I bet when I collected outside later on, I'd have looked right past my grapes too. Now I'm wondering what else I might do with them....

Going to make summer wreath. Already have frame. Have beautiful summer fabric. Bright and cheerful. Will cut strips large enough to put on frame and loosely sew into tube on frame. Will bunch fabric together tightly. Always have wreath on front door

Grape vines are the go-to all-season wreath in my area, which has always had lots of grapes, wild and winery, and now has more I have a large pine-cone wreath I bought at a craft show a lot of years ago. It has held up very well. The construction of same is more difficult on the hands than using vines, though.

I love all season wreaths but will never use one again. Why? Because I was so sad when I had to throw it away due to bird POOP. Huge quantities. Here's the story.
My SIL made us a large (2'x 2') front door grape vine wreath. IT WAS GORGEOUS- made with all natural field flowers and grasses and branches with leaves. I put it up about February or so. At Easter, a bird decided to nest there even though it was our front door! We unfortunately did not recognize the nest which was tucked away as not being part of the wreath. Bird probably used some of the leaves and grasses!
Anyhow, once we figured it out (i.e. when the EGGS showed up), the kids would not let us get rid of the nest. So we had a wonderful hatching experience, watched the baby birds fly away and threw out the disgustingly stinky wreath.
So no more all season wreaths.....

I've been using a grapevine wreath that I decorated according to the season/holiday. I wired flowers and decorations on to it, or simply poked the flower stems in the wreath, and wired a silk ribbon bow onto it. Everything I put on the wreath could be easily removed and replaced. I'm thinking about trying something different, because there's not much space between our front door and storm door and the wreath ends up being somewhat squashed. I do love my grapevine wreath, though, and I will use it somewhere else.
