I *swear* that my black LaMancha dairy buck was nowhere near these girls. I have the kiddings happening now to prove it. So where are these colors coming from?

copperkid3, do not even go there... that's a standing (albeit completely lacking in taste) joke between Kiwis and Aussies.

Cute cute cute! What color is the sire and what colors are the grandparents?
That family would look right at home on our farm. Mom is posing really nicely for the camera. Ours don't usually do that.

Peg The sire is a bit tan, but uniform in shade. Ancestry of sire/dam is unknown. My whole flock is a starter set of bummers from 2 years ago. I bought the ram off CL and don't know much about his past life. I just had another tonight that was a mix of white and brown, almost like Guernsey cow. All of these odd colored lambs are coming from first-timers. It was too dark for a picture. And by the way, I had to rattle off about 30 bad pics just to get that 1 good one.

Ancestry of sire/dam is unknown. And by the way, I had to rattle off about 30 bad pics just to get that 1 good one. So now you know the grandparents had some nice color genetics! The red lamb is a very common Katahdin color. The white poll (top of head) is also seen a lot. We just had a pair of twins similar to yours, although the ewe does have red spots herself. Her parents were black (dam) and solid brown/red (sire). The sire of those lambs is white and his breeder has a lot of color in her flock. Some buyers only want white while some prefer the louder colors. I just say they all taste good. Your good/bad picture ratio is pretty standard. I love digital cameras for sheep photos. Snap away. I also love the colored lambs better as it gives character and easy to tell them apart and the easiest way to tell if your adults have color in their back ground (assuming both parents white) and you don't have much info on their back ground is to check the color of their tongue's, Yep a sheep with color in their gene pool will have a spot or two on their tongues LOL, easy for me to see when they are hollering at me to give them grains as usually their mouths are wide open
Congrads on the newest one last night
