I've only been to Ikea twice and that was enough, years ago. It's a total maze. One could get lost in there for hours. Their pick up item system, leaves a lot to be desired. Not my style!

We love Ikea, but I don't go there without our daughter, since I would be lost in there forever.I have no sense of direction ha ha which slightly upsets my daughter. But we always find lots of stuff to buy. We also have Ikea in Germany.

I tend to skip the upstairs with furniture. Downstairs is my happy place, love the kitchen section.

I enjoy going to Ikea. While we haven't bought a lot of things there, we've generally been happy with what we've gotten. I especially love the "Mulig" drying rack for clothes - you can't find anything similar anywhere else in the US.
As to the floor plan, there are shortcuts built in - you just have to look at the floor maps to find them. Most people are unaware of their presence, as they are - shall we say - discreetly placed.

Rachel, you know you have to secure that crib to the wall? You know, possibly you can have a local cabinet maker make you a similar crib. Also, Federal guidelines require crib mattresses to have a fire retardant in them. Now they know that the fire retardant is responsible for the sudden high incidences of crib death back in the 70’s, 80’s. You have to put a special sheet/liner on the mattress. You know I didn't see this until just now. No I did not know we had to secure it to the wall. It didn't matter for this baby since she has bed-shared with us and only been in the crib a handful of times. She's over a year old now lol. For this upcoming baby if the baby does use the crib (doubtful since I intend on nursing again and bed-sharing is so much nicer for that) I will make sure to secure it to the wall. As for flame retardants, thankfully I did hear about that. We ended up getting this organic mattress www.toysrus.com/product?productId=24447866 which is free of flame retardants. We still use a crib liner (I think it said to do this to stop dust mites or some sort of mites from crawling into the mattress and disturbing the baby) and then organic sheets on top of that. This crib turns into a toddler bed so maybe the 1 yo will use it as a toddler bed when she moves out of our bed and the new baby moves in, we'll see. I appreciate the information though, thank you
