TIL that I must stop overloading myself with a long list of 'to do' items when I go to the city. I get frustrated because only a few things on my want to do list get done and things take way longer than I expected. Time to be more realistic, I suppose. Takes more time to dress, re-dress and load the babies for a trip to the store than it takes IN the store. I can't beat myself up because I didn't accomplish all I wanted to, so must prioritize and do the most important things, letting the rest go for another day.

TIL about the Anonymous Mail Department at USPS. There's a section of shelves at our post office labeled Anonymous Mail that I could see in the back while at the counter today so I had to ask about it. Anonymous mail is any mail that has a problem (improper postage, questionable contents, etc.) that doesn't have a return address so they can't deliver it, and can't return it. It just goes into Anonymous Mail and then... hangs out. There's quite a bit of stuff back there!

kawaiitimes, That mail used to be called something like 'nixies' by the post office when my father worked there. They weren't allowed to take any of it, but he did sneak me out a French magazine once when I was taking French. From what I remember, anything expensive was auctioned off by the government after a time, and the rest was destroyed. It's amazing how much ends up there!

TIL - to check planting directions BEFORE ordering bushes. I ordered blue berry, raspberry and strawberries that just arrived. Hubby and I spent the weekend building raised beds, and now after receiving the bushes and reading the directions, we didn't make them anywhere near big enough for the raspberries or blueberries. UGH! I can put one of them into the long beg we planned for the strawberries, but either way this isn't going to work like I wanted it to. And I had no idea that you are supposed to trelice raspberries. We never did when I was growing up, so what gives?
This whole thing is starting to give me a headache!

I just picked up in the middle of this thread --and what I have learned the last year might not fit--but here goes The article read as follows, the worker bees, that collect pollen, are females. the males sit at home and drink coffee all day--but when winter comes, the females pull off their wings--and throw them out the door to die, And, in conservation mag--frogs cannot swallow normally, because their tongues is fastened at the front of their mouth. They catch with their tongue. and blink their eyes. The eyes roll across the top of their mouth, and force the food down their throat. Never to old to read and learn!

I learned that you should never store white spray paint on the same shelf as foaming window cleaner as white spray paint doesn’t look great on the innner windshield and dashboard of a vehicle.

On a related note, do not store a can of "fix-a-flat" with ANYTHING else! Keep it carefully contained in a separate leak-proof container. That way, when it goes off by itself on a hot summer day, it won't ruin the display on your automobile code reader (or your tire inflator, or your cell phone charger, or your ...)

TIL that I would rather live in a tornado zone than a hurricane zone. The anticipation would drive me crazy. With a tornado you get a watch, a warning, the wind, and the aftermath in a matter of hours. My friend moved to Charleston a few years ago and we have been communicating continually for 4 days while she waited to see what would happen.

I learned a lot yesterday:
1. When you are short staffed at work, and you are honest with a table (not my table, but another server whose tables are close to the bar) and let them know your name, and that if they need anything, to let me know, they are appreciative.
2. When you are short staffed at work, and you are honest with the table (the couple next to the above couple) and let them know your name, and if they need anything to let me know, they are hateful, want to know why we are short staffed, complain that it's ridiculious, bla bla bla.
3. September is "pass around the sickness" month. Working in the public, Sept. seems to be the month when servers/bartenders go down hard with sickness. I am guessing because kids have been in school for over a month, and since schools are germ incubators, and parents bring their sick kids out to dinner, that's why ? I don't know. But it is a proven pattern.
4. I grow things I don't eat and I need to re evaluate my garden.
5. Dog farts can 100% hit a gag reflex.
6. I love to be so busy I can't breath when I am at work!!
