TIL (actually yesterday) that when you have had some health issues (due to our car accident, my leg and just maybe some older age?) planning and executing a party at your house can be tough especially when entertaining your wonderful Mom. So grateful for my Mom being her but "note to self", plan less for others to come "see her" meaning a big all day party.

that I must stop overloading myself with a long list of 'to do' items when I go to the city.
>>>>>>>>>>> I do this also.... Being the tool and die, machine shop perfectionist, every detail goes on the list. Every detail needs done to make as efficient a trip to town as possible...
Second thing I learned... I'm retired, town will be there, 9/10 of the list can go to another list, 7/10 of the things on the list are convenient, but if forgotten won't matter 9/10 of the time.

... what a White Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar looks like. I spotted this beauty out at the coops this AM and thanks to a post that shin made in regards to a white poisonous caterpillar- I didn't make the mistake of handling it - which I have been known to do with caterpillars. ~Mari

... that there are indeed Hummingbird Moths! After a really cool visit from one of these late yesterday afternoon - I did some research this AM to find our neat little visitor was a White-lined Sphinx Moth. (I wrote about it on the Great Outdoors board as well) ~Mari

... that possums can carry bundles of leaves with their tail. I was headed out to the coops this evening and spotted a possum with a large bundle of leaves wrapped up in it's tail - it proceeded to make it's way into a large hollow tree. Pretty cool I thought. ~Mari

Today I learned that I need to hone my filing and bookkeeping skills.
Yesterday I learned not to automatically upgrade my iPhone. It is now unable to process phone calls. Thankfully, messages still work.
I also learned today that I shouldn't rely on hearing a car approaching as I cross the road to get my mail. Too many electric cars out there. Sneaky suckers.

Mari , thanks for sharing about the opposum. I never new that. That's what I learned today You are so very welcome oldone. It was a sight indeed! It was just too dark to take a good pic - darn it. But, after I "Googled" it - to try and find out what I had seen wasn't just a fluke - I found many cute pics and videos out there on the net. Take care! ~Mari

Opossums are less likely to transport rabies, because of their low body temperature the virus can not survive. Thanks for posting the above squirrelwhisperer - I learned something today! I had no idea - I always thought that they were probably just as bad as raccoons, etc., as far as carrying rabies. Obviously I have a lot to learn - and I do indeed just love learning new things! I must say - since we moved to where we are now - I have learned oh so much and look so forward to the days to come in regards to learning many many new things. More often than not the new things I learn about have to do with nature and I am indeed a nature lovin' nut! I feel so blessed to live in this little corner of the world I call "home". ~Mari

...why to NOT get a wall-attached toilet.
One of the toilets at work separated from the wall by 1/2" at the top. The maintenance guys came, said it was firmly attached to the wall (attaches at the bottom), stuck something between the toilet bottom & the floor so it can't drop any more, and caulked the top. I don't want to be around when that fails and the pipe breaks...

squirrelwhisperer, no, my tortie was never skiddish. She was of the "I am cat; fall at my feet and worship me" mold. She was the queen of the house (of the animals, though not [totally] of the humans) and she knew it. The orange one, on the other hand, was as mellow as they come.

.... riding shotgun for 160 drizzly miles in a 1994 Corvette is an experience. 😃 Slick roads. Low visibility. Foggy windshield no matter what we did. Safe trip, though.
