Hello all. Just trying on some opinions about which machine would be the best purchase for me. I can only buy one. This is for my farm. I'd like to dig out some drainage ditches and clear some acreage. The clearing would involve large stone/boulder removal from a field, some willows and brush from a wet area, digging out stumps, as well as digging some drainage. At some point I would like to reclaim some overgrown pasture that has some small/medium trees.
I'm thinking about either a miniexcavator or a skidsteer. I figure the mini is best for digging, which is most of my work, but the skid is more versatile and can dig too with a backhoe attachment. I also have 2 tractors so I have some capability of hauling, grading, etc. Opinions/advice?

I think the skid steer can do all of it. You can put a variety of attachments on it. The skid steer has tires which though expensive last. The mini with its tread can slip off in certain conditions. I would suggest you look at everything you need done, look at your terrain, and go from there. I strongly go for the skidsteer but then I worked around them for years and know what they can do.
