I'm getting off to a slow start. I decided to try to get the unused half of our dining room table (which we eat on daily and are not supposed to clutter up with stuff ) cleared off. I made a good start on Sunday afternoon but ran out of time and uumph before the job was finished. Yesterday I tackled it again and was able to get all of the laundry folded and put away. My 3yo wanted to play dress up so I dragged out a few bags of hand-me-downs and garage sale clothing which I had tucked away in the basement and we went through those. Sorted all of the clothing into 5 piles- 1 for DD's current wardrobe; another for good clothes in the next couple of sizes up for her; good clothes which we can't/won't use which can be sold on FB/ebay, passed on to others, or donated to the thrift shop; raggedy/stained clothing which I will use for making rag rugs; and raggedy/stained clothing which goes to the thrift store to be sold to their rag buyer. Was able to get rid of a few bags of things, which helped a lot. Did several loads of laundry and got it all folded and put away, which got all of the clothes off the table. Ran out of time and did not get the rest of the clutter cleared off, but what is left is not too bad- may be able to finish that tonight. It's tough to clean the house and get rid of all my good stuff (also known to some weird people as "clutter") when I am trying to save the world by recycling everything in it. Both my own stuff and that of many others

OK, it's April now. Is there an April list? Then I'll only be 7 days behind...

Well, I had great and glorious plans to get a lot done today, but ended up spending the day trying to help dh save our old water heater. Sadly, it was too late and it couldn't be saved. We have pulled it back from the brink so many times that I never though it would actually quit. Whole family had to shower next door at my mother's. She accused me of going out to the paved road and soliciting for people to come and take showers, I brought so many visitors "knocking at her shower door"! We knew it was on its last legs for some time and have saved just about enough to cover a replacement, which we should be able to get hooked up tomorrow. I know that we could manage without it, but life certainly is easier with it and since I do have the option, I'd rather spend my time and effort on other issues these days. So anyway, none of my regularly scheduled cleaning got done today and now my laundry room looks like a hurricane blew through it.

Hi all! I'm glad I found everyone. We had a "warm" day and I was inspired so we managed to clean and organize part of the garage. I'm not sure it looks significantly better but it is. I managed to clear some shelf space by tossing some plastic containers (sour cream, butter etc) that didn't have lids and a few rags that I didn't want to put through the wash. I focused on putting like items with like items. I can now find things much more easily which will translate into buying less & hubby was happy with my inspiration. We also got it swept out which was much needed after a long winter of bringing dirt, sand, and salt in on the tires. Tomorrow I will tackle the upstairs putting laundry and the sundry items I add to the baskets to be "put away". I'm in the process of cleaning out my mom's house & need to figure out how to make some space for items that I want to keep. Needless to say, I've already donated a lot and am not taking everything but it's still enough that I need to figure out a way to store it all. I'm hoping my practice at playing Tetris pays off.

My cleaning project for the day was the frig...I'm trying to pick just one project each day and it seems to be working. Soon it will be outside time and then the house gets forgotten.

I buckled down and got all my normal housecleaning "maintenance" chores done last week and the FlyLady list, but it was hard. Some of that stuff took a lot longer than I expected. But this is a new week. I need to again conquer my maintenance cleaning list and the FL stuff. Zone 3 Mission #1 Monday clear everything off the bathroom counter top and wipe them from side to side and top to bottom. Then use a little elbow grease and scrub your sink. Zone 3 Mission #2 Tuesday Straighten up the laundry area. Put away the stray hangers. Wipe down the washing machine and dryer. Toss out all those empty detergent and fabric softener bottles that you have meant to take care of. Mission #3 Wednesday Clear off the flat surfaces in the bathroom. This means the edge of the tub, the counter tops and the back of the toilets. Zone 3 Mission #4 Thursday Clean those sink faucets and tub faucets with an old toothbrush. Zone 3 Mission #5 Friday Wherever you favorite spot to sit, there always seems to be a hotspot; straighten up, toss out and put away anything that doesn't belong there. This list is from the FlyLady site. You can check there each week for a new one. www.flylady.net/c/lp.phpClick on the Launch Pad and then the Sneak Peak for the Week. For me, so far today I have started my laundry, scrubbed and shined my bathroom and kitchen sinks, and straightened a bit. Still need to scrub the rest of the upstairs bathroom, finish the laundry, clean and put away a bunch of winter garb, and vacuum downstairs.

Thank you, Hillfarm for posting this week's mission. I really dropped the ball. While I obviously didn't keep up with flylady last week, I did have a lot of fun!
We hauled garbage, I cleaned toilets and sinks. Did several loads of laundry and got it put away (hey! That's an accomplishment) Worked on taxes.
I spent all afternoon cooking healthy dinners and luches for the week (stuffed peppers, roast chicken, chicken/spinach/mushroom soup) but ran out of oomph to actually clean it up until today!
But I did have a lot of fun, lots of laughs with good friends--it was worth a little clutter and mess!

Today I am getting some things accomplished. I normally work 13 to 14 hours a day. I can only get things accomplished on the weekend. My mom and dad are elderly and in need of help, so I usually have to help them on the weekend too. Today DH and I went to the recycling center. I also went to the grocery store and recycled bottles, plastic and cans and also grocery bags. I picked up a Boston Pork Butt at the meat market for $1.99 a pound. That is a steal right about now in our area. I think it will be tomorrows supper. I will be going outside and picking up sticks and branches from the tree next to our house (which is our neighbor's, but they don't want to think it is because they don't want to take care of it)and get that piled up. It is too windy to rake today, but the weather is gorgeous, sunny and 73. I will certainly take this weather compared to the winter we have had. It feels gets getting something accomplished. Happy cleaning everyone!

I cleaned and organized the little greenhouse I have. Hosed down the walls, windows, etc. Got some of my seeds in and can only work in a tidy area...

Flylady for the week of April 19, 2015
April 19 - 25, 2015
This week we are in Zone 4: The Master Bedroom
This month's Habit is: Making Your Bed Monday: Starting at the ceiling, then window frames, curtains, doors and jambs(sp?) get after all the cobwebs. Tuesday: Clean the baseboards. I like to use a damp rag for this. Wednesday:Clean your nightstand. I like to take a moment at that time to take at least one thing quickly out of the drawer that shouldn't be there. Thursday: Clean your light switch and doorknobs Friday: Flip your mattress.

I am actually doing fairly well with making my bed now. It feels odd if I don't do it.
I got my ceiling, ceiling fan and walls dusted, and made some major progress on clearing a lot of other stuff away that had migrated into the bedroom. My biggest problem in that room is managing the seasonal change of clothing. Our old farmhouse doesn't have hardly any storage space so we have to keep our off-season stuff in plastic bins in the barn.
The problem comes in the spring and fall when we need some of the warm stuff and some of the cold stuff, but who knows which we will need when! So I have everything from sweatshirts and winter boots to light tennis shoes and short-sleeved T-shirts overflowing my dresser drawers and closet and in stacks and piles everywhere. And in addition to the regular amount of clothing, we also usually have separate "town clothes" and "farm clothes", which means nearly double the amount! Our town clothes are not fancy by any means, but at least they are not torn or badly stained like a lot of our farm clothes. Oh well, this happens every spring and I just need to suck it up and deal with it.

Good afternoon all, I was needing some motivation so I stopped in here. I've been working outside the past few weeks because of good weather, trimming, garden stuff, animal needs, painting projects, etc. Now since it's been rainy & cold, I've been inside. I've always usually just worked in spurts when I have high energy. This past week I have been hauling everything out of our bedroom to super deep clean it. That is done now. We are re-arranging several rooms in our home because of life style changes. So the two bathrooms are cleaned, three rooms are cleaned and arranged the way I want them to be. There is a small room we use for the grandchildrens' nap & play room. Our grandchildren are growing fast so my Dh built a wonderful pine log toddler bed & we moved the crib into our room and put the toddler bed in the playroom. Today, after my break and Dh leaves for work, I'm going to do some baking and cleaning in the kitchen. When we move our daughters' china cabinet and her pool table to her house, (hopefully this weekend) I can finish the last two rooms the way I want them. The room with the china cabinet is the office and when it is gone I can finish painting and putting the rest of my books in there. The books are in wooden crates that I can just stack against the wall to create a unique shelving look. Then the room with the pool table will be just the music room. (It is the other end of the long living room and has the piano, stereo and all the musical instruments I have collected over the years) The pool table was nice to have, she bought it for $100.00 about 8 years ago. We have played many a game of 8 ball. And now it is time for it to go with her. I'm almost caught up with the laundry (extra because of washing curtains) And I've even got a big box of stuff to send to the thrift store. yay!!!

For some relief: Could you get those blocks which raise your beds and use underbed storage for off season clothes?

I keep baby wipes in the car for spills (these are great for pre-wash stain treatments when you spill something on your clothes). Usually, at some point, they dry out. I bring them inside and wet them to use as cleaning cloths. Other than that, I don't buy paper towels for cleaning, only rags. I keep rags under every sink so they are handy for spills and cleaning.
There are many things that need to be fixed/bought in different rooms of the house. I need to add these to my flylady control journal. Right now, I have lights that need to be replaced in the master bath, screens fixed in the master bedroom and diningroom (cats!!!)
Working outside will slow down the inside cleaning, I'm afraid. I hope to get the basics all done this weekend (declutter, bathrooms, kitchen, frig, sweeping) Doubt I'll have time to wash the floors this weekend. ---------- I've been filling a plastic box with sweaters and long sleeved tops as I do the wash. Some will have been turned into rags since they are past their prime. Ill hoist that box to the top of the closet shelves this weekend.

Well, I didn't get my baking done the other day. My son and his family stopped by and when there's a 2 month old baby girl with smiles & giggles......well, you know, there's just too much cuteness in the room. Had a nice visit. Yesterday my daughter & DIL along with their little girls came over and we made 8 batches of jelly & jam. Blackberry, strawberry and cherry. I had some fruit in the freezer that really needed something done with it. So now, my freezer has room for something else and is a little better organized, the jelly & jam turned out great and we will divide it up for everyone to enjoy.

I have been working on last weeks list. Still am. I've been decluttering the bedroom and bathroom. I cleaned the toilet and sinks and vanity. I hope to slowly get the floors done in those rooms. My living room is already decluttered, but when I finish the bedroom and bath, I'll start on the list of the living room.
How are all of you doing? Anyone getting anything out of the house (as in donations/trash)? I want to keep working on the closets/garage/basement/attic!

I have a laundry basket of things to take to the thrift store. The items came from the de-cluttering & cleaning from last week of our bedroom, living room and playroom. I'll probably have more books to pass on when I get to several boxes of books. I am working in the office today getting the checkbooks and accounts in order. I don't have carpeting or upholstered furniture because of my dust mite allergy so now that the living room, bedroom and playroom are cleaned (as of last week) it only takes a few minutes to swiffer them down. Both bathrooms are on the list for this week. They're not too bad. I want to spend a lot of time outside this week attending to the work that is needed in the gardens, yards and pens.

I changed out the filters in my vacuum cleaner and wow did it make a difference! I'll never like vacuuming, but now I don't totally hate it Didn't realize how much I was "fighting" the vacuum because it had lost so much suction.

I am struggling to keep all the balls in the air, so not as good on the cleaning as I would like. Midtnmama, I already have the under-the-bed storage full!
Today I got some laundry, scrubbed a couple of bathrooms and need to vacuum. My old vacuum is about shot. The farm dirt and pet hair have been very hard on it. It is a Dirt Devil and had really worked pretty well, but after 10 years, it is about done. What vacuum do you all have and do you like it?
