How foolish. Not only could she have been injured or killed, but her horse and whoever hit them could have been as well. I hope she thinks about her arrest the next time she decides to go for a ride while drunk.

I knew one woman in a boarding stable who got drunk riding many times. It was not right but I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She was a nurse in a major pediatric burn unit. Each day her life was filled with horribly injured children screaming in pain. And, when riding her horse was not enough stress relief, she added alcohol.
It would be easy to say that she should have sought either a better coping mechanism or got a different job. But maybe she felt that she was desperately needed. Who knows. But I try to remember her whenever I forget that humans don't always make good choices even when they are very good people indeed. Not that she didn't need to be made aware that it was bad.
