This is very realistic looking. I love it. It shouldn't be too hard to make. Good luck Melissa.

I've always liked them too. Maybe we should do a sew along?

Our library has one of those.
A sew along sounds fun. If you have an embroidery machine you could even put titles on them.

It will have to wait until fall for me, when the weather is nice, I am outside!

I love the idea of a sewalong too, and yes, using up scraps. But, like Melissa said, it will have to wait until the garden is put to bed for the year and cold rainy fall weather brings me back indoors.

Looks like we have our first fall project. Yeah! At least I hope I'll be ready come fall, I have so much to keep me busy at this new place that I don't know if I'll ever get done. I did pick me up some new fruit and veggie fabric a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of doing another jar quilt someday though.

How neat! I've never seen one of those. I so want to learn to quit, just haven't taken the time - yet.

The more I look at this the more I love it. I've never had the desire to quilt but this could really inspire me.

I have seen that picture before! I made a large wall hanging of a floor cabinet holding canning jars full of food and one little jar open, turned on its side with ants spilling out. It hung in my kitchen at our old house in CO. Here I have no place to put it. This one looks fun, too.
I have seen one similar only they put words on the spines of the books.

I've also seen pictures of a bookcase quilt that on some shelves had doilies hanging off and picture frames with scanned pictures in them.

My jar quilt has doilies in some spots and some of the jars are decorated with fabric under the rings and I also appliqued some potatoes on one shelf. Darn it, now I want to start on another one!

I bought that book/pattern a long time ago. I thought it was something else. Oddly enough, that book is on a bookshelf....

Pics? I've seen a couple of jar quilts, but they didn't have shelves. Would love to do a quilt like that, too as I have the fabrics for it.

I pinned that book quilt to my Pinterest some time ago. I don't sew much anymore, but that might have me oiling up my trusty Bernina.

I bought for my aunt, who never got a round toit. I guess all my toits are square too - I don't even know how to turn it on. That quilt is just amazing though & so is the canning one wvterri

Those jars are too cute. Did you applique them?

No, they're pieced. The pumpkin(2nd pic) and the potatoes(3rd pic) are appliqued though. It's hard to tell that the potatoes are potatoes with the size of the photo.

I might just be in on this! I'm thinking that a special sized one to go in front of my built in bookcase would be neat...

A friend just gave me some Kona cotton fabric with cranes on it. A crane would make a beautiful book cover.
So, when do we start as a group? My sewing room is not set up yet, but it will be soon. How about October 1st?
An interesting thing, you can make as many shelves as you want. If you don’t have time to make a large quilt, you could just do two shelves and call it good.
