Yesterday, DH and I did a quick cleaning of all the rooms of the house. If I don't take my control journal with me to each room as I clean I forget what should be put on the to do/to buy list. So yesterday I remembered that a lamp needs to have a leg reglued and a mirror that has sat on a piece of furniture for YEARS needs to be hung above the furniture. Also, having DH with me helped us to remember to remove a wall lamp that isn't working and take it to the electrical supply place and get help fixing it.Since doing Flylady that is very doable in a short amount of time because there isn't so much to put away.
Even had time to work outside trimming bushes and pruning fruit trees --there are a lot to do. Again, doing it alongside DH helped us have time to talk about how we are going to raise the hoophouse height and dog-proof, critter-proof the chicken run.
Got the recycling dropped off.
I bought four pair pants and two sweaters (three were brand new for $1!). I want to get rid of the same no. of each and give to goodwill. Less is more. 2018 is the year of an uncluttered, less-stress life!
How about you?

I'm finding Flylady tips quite helpful these days as I'm working full time and helping elderly relatives too. My home isn't particularly cluttered but I have so much to do that it's easy to let cleaning slip, even in a smallish apartment.
Now I ensure I do three 15 minute missions every day and that helps keep the place in a state that I can have company stop in at any time.
There's something about setting the timer that keeps me focused so it's amazing how much I can do before the timer goes off. Today, in the first 15 minute slot I stripped the bed and shoved the sheets into the washing machine, then made the bed with another set of sheets, plus did a quick dusting of my dresser and bedside tables; easy to do since I keep very little on the tops. The second 15 minute slot was spent tackling the dining table, my hotspot for dropping stuff. Everything on the table went to where ever it should go and I gave the table a swift but thorough dusting with furniture polish. Some of the stuff on the table was put in the shredding basket, and that's what I'll do with 15 minutes tonight while the dishwasher is going. The shredded stuff goes straight to our recycling room when I'm done, and the empty basket is returned to it's regular hiding place behind a chair. Of course I do wipedowns of the kitchen and bathroom daily, and I may tackle 1-2 items on the "kitchen list" you posted, this week. OR I might do one of them during a 15 minute mission. Depends on life.

Lindy: Since I'm competitive, I may try to do 3 15 min flylady tasks per day, too. But exercise comes first! I do know that if I'm exercising regularly I have more energy to do something at night after working and my long commute. ----- It's a little thing, but I'm trying to organize shelves and closets each time I reach in. I noticed there are several zip lock bags of coffee filters in my pantry--combined to one, washed out the bags to reuse. ------------ I fill a kitchen scrubber with 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 dawn dish detergent (or generic) and use this to scrub the shower each time it is used. No mold!!!

One word describes my house....MESS....Yesterday, the big fluorescent light in the kitchen quit...so, I got a ladder, opened it, and managed to get the bulbs out...had hubby go buy new bulbs...took forever to get them in...still will not work, must be the ballast or starter, so today, have to go fifty miles to buy a new one to put up...the living room is torn up as I attempt to pull out one part of the sectional and give it to my new renter to use, as I was blessed with a different one..the other part will be thrown away....boxes everywhere, trying to incorporate items I could not leave at my Mom's due to her death, and I just could not leave them there...too many memories...and what do I do with the old wringer maytag I brought home that was mine from years ago....

grannyg, Ask and you shall receive. Here are some ideas for wringer washer repurpose: []=wringer%7Cautocomplete%7Cundefined&term_meta[]=washer%7Cautocomplete%7Cundefined&term_meta[]=repurpose%7Cautocomplete%7Cundefined Personally, I like the kitchen sink made from a wringer washer. If it worked I'd use it outside and put the water in the garden! I hear you about the ballasts. I prefer flourescent lighting to the fancy kinds that are popular. I have them in kitchen, utility room and bathroom and changing the ballasts are difficult. Why do they always break? I don't remember that happening all the time when I was growing up... -------------- I'm busy today trying to see to my seedlings in my mini outdoor greenhouses. Some are too small to plant, yet are too tall for their containers. I'll make an arch with a mini blind and put a grocery bags (with holes) over it and secure with cloths pins around the planter. ----------------- Must also: empty dishwasher and put away dried clothes.

When I finish showering I use the squeege for a minute on all the tiled tub walls, then a microfiber cloth around the tub edges to wipe up the water the squeege pushed down. I will have to try your vinegar/dishsoap recipe too as a preventative. The little things, like combining bags of coffee filters as you did, are exactly how our places end up better organized over time.

lindy , I make a game out of cleaning and try to do it as fast as I can, This might mean sprinting out to the garbage cans outside, or running up the steps... I try to squeeze a little exercise into everything I do (squats when brushing teeth). I lift my dining room chairs like weights when moving them to vacuum. I like the squeegy idea. I may try that... --------------- I'm having trouble embedding that pinterest link for grannyg, think this will work:Pinterest repurposed wringer washers

Well, my three 15 minute "missions" ended up as one today - after I dropped a carton of milk on the kitchen floor. I'm not sure how it happened but I can tell you now that the kitchen floor including under the stove and fridge, and cabinet fronts, along with carpeting in the hallway just outside my tiny kitchen are all spotless now! Since I had to pull the appliances out anyway I did a thorough cleaning of floors and baseboards behind them, after mopping up the milk, and then I did a scrubbing of the appliances themselves(exterior) including vacuuming the coils on the back of the fridge. I also found a teaspoon behind the stove I see that this weeks Flylady list includes the bathroom and one other room. While I was cleaning up the kitchen I could see that the laundry room, right off the kitchen and just big enough for stacked washer/dryer,and a open shelving unit needs a thorough going over. Guess that's the room for me this week!

Today, I'm taking a melamine sponge and scrubbing around the sticky spots that surround the knobs on the cabinets.
Also, cleaning up the wasted seedlings I started that got inundated with rain and got moldy. Wondering what to do with the dirt?
Cleaned the frig this week. I take out the bottom drawers and fill with warm water, a glug of ammonia and a couple drops of dish detergent. This is used to clean the rest of the frig, then the water is a super fertilized way to water plants.
What is everyone else getting done?

What is everyone else getting done? Thinking about where to start!!!
Today's the day (at long last) that our new piglet daughter, Apple, is coming to meet her 'brothers' and 'sisters'. It's taken longer than expected to have her visit as the last two weeks have been full on with friends coming to stay, places to be and things to do. It'll be the first time DH has met her, but I expect he'll fall in love just like I did.
But to keep this on topic, I came across this way-cool gadget in the supermarket the other week. Now for those of you who have dogs that live inside and shed like there's no tomorrow, cleaning carpets with just the vacuum is a big ask.
I'd heard way back that a stiff broom over the carpet before you vacuum helps pick up hair stuck in the pile, so when I saw a rubber-bristled broom (two rows of bristles but wide enough to have a gap between each one) at the shops, I thought it might be easier on both the carpet and me. Wow - what a difference it makes!!!! OK, so it's a double go-over the carpet, once with the broom and once with the vacuum, but it does a great job of picking up all the hair.
Definitely worth the purchase price of $14. I might go and get another one just in case something happens to the original and I can't find it again in the shops.

It's interesting how flylady cycles through your home. That's how she knows the master bedroom and bath needs work this week: Flylady week of 3 18 18 Masther Bedroom and Bath 15 minute Missions (move to detailed list if you get them done) Mon: Put away anything that does not belong in the bedrom Tues: Put away the clothes pile in bedroom Wed:Straighten up the floor of your closet Thurs: Clean off the nightstands Fri: Clean off the top of the dresser(s) FlyLady’s Detailed Cleaning List – Zone 4: The Master Bedroom This is my detailed cleaning list for Zone 4. Ensure you adapt it to fit your home and family. If you are still decluttering, you are not ready for this whole list, concentrate on decluttering only! Baby steps! – FlyLady This is FlyLady’s Detailed Cleaning List for Zone 4. If your home is still cluttered, you are not supposed to do detailed cleaning yet; just declutter for 15 minutes a day in this area. Do not get blown away by how big this detailed cleaning list is LOL! We do not do all of it in one week. Each month we focus on a different room, and only do just a little in the other rooms. After a few months it will be very easy! BabySteps! It did not get dirty overnight and it is not going to get clean in a day! Print each room on a separate sheet of paper. Copy and paste into a word processing document. You may need to add a few of your own details that apply to your home. Start at the ceiling and work your way down to the floor. Master Bathroom Detailed Cleaning List Wash area rugs Straighten up makeup Straighten drawer cabinets Clean shower/stall demold Wash shower doors Master Bedroom Detail Cleaning List Polish Furniture Clean off the desks Clean cobwebs Wash mattress pad/dust ruffle Flip mattress Empty trash Wash windows Cull some books from bookcase Straighten drawers Clean under the bed Closet Detailed Cleaning List Straighten the top shelves Arrange the shoes Take Suitcases to basement Dust shoe bookcase lindy, grannyg,@kiwifarmgal, Tallpines

I spend an hour pruning (or starting to prune) one fruit tree yesterday. Got 1/2 the garden ready to mow and till. Washed dried and put away a load of clothes. Made my lunches (frozen) for the week (still have the next three days salads to make for lunch). Cleaned things out of the frig that needed to be eaten or used up. Froze avocados that were more slightly brown to use in baking. Then petered out!
