The last time I saw such a rescue, they were not goats but hair sheep. Most people can't tell or even know there is such a thing. These are too far away to tell but I have my suspicions that might be true again.

I've been told that some goats look like dogs. They can be managed in backyards as dogs with clipped ears. I do so enjoy the goat/sheep discussions. I'm glad I have my friends here.

I saw the video clip of this and read the article. Silly goats, they do get their little selves into some great big trouble, don't they! I'm glad they go rescued from their perilous plight!

I imagine, that much like their purrfect cousins, the household cat, they were in total control of the situation. Most cats climb up a pole or a tall tree and then "wait to be rescued" by their know-nothing humans who think that they have to do these duties. Goats are the same way....and it's simply a matter of making sure that you have your humans trained correctly to respond in the appropriate manner... knowing all-to-well, that if necessary, they could simply turn around and go back the way they arrived. But that's for sissies....and where would be the fun in that?

On a last day of the hunting camp one year, we were just hanging out over coffee and enjoying another good time when a pickup truck roared down the lane. Out jumped a neighbor / acquaintance who said, "Where's Earle?, and if he ain't here you better find him cause the Johnsons have sworn out an arrest warrant on him!" Knowing Earle brought this to bear in a light-hearted way because Earle didn't have a mean bone in himself, and was a really good person. What has Earle done now?..."Nothing!! Earle ain't done nothing but them dam goats of his are in the Johnson garden again and that black billy goat done tagged Mrs. Johnson when she tried to run him off!!
Well there was a favorable outcome to this bit of drama for everyone but Earle. He didn't get arrested, but did have to go on over there and face the music, clear the garden of 8 nannies and 1 bad billy. The Johnson family got enough settlement money then and there on the spot so that they didn't have to worry about the fall garden that year. Mrs Johnson still don't like Earle though.
