A while back I tried out Instagram as a place to put up photos of my corgi, but then I found out that it is owned by Facebook and I hate Facebook, so I deleted the Instagram account. (At least I think I did -- with these internet monsters, you never know.) Anyway, I made Kebab a website, at www.kebabthecorgi.com. Have a look... It works best on tablets and smartphones. On desktop computers, a stupid menu bar pops down as you scroll down in a post to view a photo. I'm working on disabling that...

"Degenerative myelopathy (DM) is a fatal, chronic, progressive, degenerative disease of the spinal cord of several breeds of dog, including the Pembroke corgi. ... The first signs of DM are seen in Pembroke corgi usually around 11 years of age and involve hindlimb ataxia (swaying when moving)."
It is basically Lou Gehrig's Disease for corgis. They end up with wheels for their rear end and unable to control their bladder etc...
It is a genetic disease, and the presence of the mutated gene is found in about 70% of corgis. Like sickle call anemia, if a puppy inherits 2 of the genes (from both mother and father), they are at risk to get the disease. If they have one gene, they can pass it on to some of their progeny, though they will not develop the disease themselves. If one parent is DM free, no pups will get the disease, since you have to have the gene from both parents.
Thus it can be bred out of the breed. That is why I have not neutered Kebab, so that maybe we can bring some more DM free pups into the genepool.
Where DM is mentioned on that page is a hyperlink which take you to more information about it.

Thank you. That's really neat that you can know all that about corgis and care so much.
