It's a very snowy and windy day here. Most everything is closed down for the weather. Great day for sewing!
I've got my block done, and now I'm itching to sew more. Think I might start cutting fabric for the quilt I've planned for the new grandbaby coming this spring.

Got my fabric today! Now I have to get DH to bring my sewing machine down from the attic. It gets too cold up there to use it!

I thought sure it would get here today but there's still no sign of it. Could it have been delayed along the way due to weather? I'm surprised because I've never had a problem getting my mail before but there's a first time for everything. Let's give it until the end of this week before sending out the bloodhounds. Am I the only who hasn't gotten it yet? If everybody else has their's could I have a little bitty hint at least to the color? Is it yellow?

We learned yesterday that our grandson has still not received his birthday card that we mailed on the 17th!! We have a that it has been stolen...……… I have never trusted the post office because of things like this. I'm sorry you haven't got your fabric yet calicokatie1, And, no, it is not yellow!

I keep thinking the weather might have something to do with it and it will show up around Valentine's Day! Sorry about your grandson's birthday card, kids love receiving mail that's just for them. I've been in the mood for something yellow and spring like - probably because of all the gloomy weather. I can't imagine how those folks are getting by that are under that thing. I have a cyber quilting friend who lives in Minnesota and I worry about her. She thought her furnace was going out the other night and it really scared her so she got on the internet and searched for furnace manuals. Luckily, she determined that she just needed some batteries for the thermostat - and she had some batteries for it.
Well, here's hoping the fabric will show up by the weekend. I have an idea of what I want to make but won't have a chance to start on them until next week anyway.

Hopefully it's just the long distance to you from here (Michigan, and yes, it's brutally cold!) Yours and two others went 'out west'; neither of the other two have posted yet, so I wonder if they are also still in transit.

Sorry, the mailman just brought the Saturday mail and the fabric still hasn't made it here. I don't know what to think now since it's been a couple of weeks.

Guess what showed up in my mailbox! My two fabric squares! On the front of the envelope there was a stamp that said "non-machinable" so that must be why mine was delayed. When they tried running it through the sorter, it spit it out, and then the weather brought everything to a stand still. But it's here now! I like those colors and have a couple of ideas of how to use them. I'm having company this week so probably can't start making my blocks until next week. This is going to make a really pretty quilt when all the blocks are set together.

I like those colors and have a couple of ideas of how to use them. So glad it showed up. And, while the fabric isn't yellow, you might be able to work yellow into the block if you have the right shade.

I had thought it was about some plane crash and people had resorted to cannibalism to survive, but that is not what it is about. I just had never looked it up. It's about people going west that get caught in the mountains in the snow, 87 people, only half survived in the end. They resorted to cannibalism to survive. This happened in about 1847. There were no quilt squares in the movie. But that doesn't mean the quilt squares didn't at some point get stuck in some snowy mountain pass.
I hope everyone in the quilt square making has fun and it all turns out really nice. Good luck to you all.

I think I'm going to use yellow sashing for another quilt project I have going. You know how it is when you get an idea like that in your mind - you gotta do it some how, some way. I want yellow this spring and I'm gonna find a way to have some yellow!! You know, feather, that isn't a bad idea for a theme quilt! We could have covered wagons, lots of snow and a big pot over the campfire with a few bones sticking out. Ugh! I think I just grossed myself out. The plane crash you're thinking about happened in the Andes in 1972.

calicokatie1, Thank you, yes, I looked it up with the information you posted. There was a movie "Alive" about that plane crash, that is what I was thinking of. Andes 1972, movie in '93.

I'm so glad you finally got it! My envelope also had that written on it. I guess that's why it looked like it had gotten run over by a truck! My blocks are finished. I just haven't felt like going to the post office yet. It's a yucky day here. Still so foggy that I can't see the pond in the pasture next door.

Okay, so for future reference, apparently one piece of fabric in a normal envelope works fine, but having two pieces means that I need to switch to larger, sturdier (the clasp type) envelopes. Sorry you guys got mangled envelopes, but the feedback is helpful!
Has everyone received their fabric now? I still have a couple pieces (and tougher envelopes) if anyone has not gotten theirs yet.

krisinmi, I have my fabric. Couldn't remember what fabric I had sent! Have to finish a quilt for Bill's mom before I can start mine. Rustaholic, feather, just sharing a fun geneology tidbit........My grandmother's great-grandfather went west with the Donner party. He left the party just as they headed north into the pass, he headed south.

Years ago, two of my siblings visited grandparents in Florida. Guess what movie was playing on their return flight home??? Not sure why anyone would think that "Alive" was a good choice for in-flight movie!

Looks like this won't be the week I get my blocks made but I wanted to check in so you know I'm still heeeere! I have been thinking about what I want to make but I'm still a little undecided. I'm also a little back and forth on what fabric to use from my stash. Ah, decisions, decisions.
