Recently my DD asked me to help with fixing her favorite shirt. It is dark and there were sweat stains and deodorant stains on it. Using a washcloth and undiluted white vinegar, I was able to remove the stains. She was amazed. Hope this helps someone....

Vinegar is amazing as is baking soda.

midtnmama, thank you! My husband has several dark or brightly colored t-shirts that have similar stains. I'll be trying the vinegar method. We always buy vinegar in gallon jugs and I'm happy to have found yet another use for vinegar!

About 10 years ago I had this black knit shirt I liked, and I wore secret deodorant. After I'd wash it, the arm pits had white deodorant stains inside on the armpits. I couldn't figure it out.
It turned out that my washer had the rotor in the middle, that didn't go back and forth anymore. I failed to notice because I'd turn it on close it and walk away. Once I realized it, I moved my clothes around by hand, until I could get a replacement washer.
I wished I'd known about the vinegar as a solution.
