I have 10 turkeys and about 20 laying chickens. They share a coop at night, during the day everyone free ranges.
Everyone has been doing great.
This morning I discovered one of my turkey toms dead. A group of its breast feathers were pulled out, but no additional trauma. Of the 10 turkeys, 3 of them are toms. Now I'm down to 2 toms.
They tom who died was totally fine yesterday. The group of turkeys are about 1 month away from butchering.
I'm not seeing signs of blackhead and their stools are normal (albeit giant!).
Thoughts?

Questions.... Where were the loose feathers in relation to the body ? Was any of the meat missing from where the feathers were out ? Any trauma to the head and, or neck ?
My thinking going towards great horned owl, eagle or such. A mature eagle is more easily identified, a jeuvenile eagle can easily be mistaken for other birds.
Those two birds are the biggest problem our feathered livestock has.
