I haven't had a chance to ask them yet.
Seems like the other day the road/sidewalk construction crew put down about 2' of hay along the front of my lawn, and the neighbor's lawn, covered by some mesh. They put in sidewalks a couple of months ago.

I'm going to guess. It may be a developers 'plan'. According to the plan, the sidewalks are put in, then straw is added to the soil side of the sidewalk to prevent erosion of the soil, and newly planted seed grass. It got late in the year and they realized they had not done everything they were going to be paid for, so they did the straw to follow up. That's a guess.

I think that's a good guess feather! I noticed that when they put the sidewalks in they left a little ditch between the grass and the yard and didn't fill it in with soil. If they fix that, that's a plus.
They already had to put in an extra curb on the near side of the sidewalk to keep the water from flowing into my neighbor's cellar from the new handicapped ramps they put in too.
Now if only they'd not made my driveway entrance so narrow.

Now if only they'd not made my driveway entrance so narrow. I was driving a big old buick back in the days when they started putting in more drive-thrus at banks. My car wouldn't fit into the drive thru. I pulled up to it, started to go in, realized it would not fit, backed out, no fun.
So cars are narrower now than they used to be. Buy a narrow car, I guess.
