It all started when both of my turkeys were broody. It quickly escalated to 2 turkeys and 5 out of 11 chickens!!
But my rooster and toms although sweet as pie, are not too much in the fertilization department. Only one chick hatched, no turkeys and a raccoon grabbed my favorite turkey hen ☹️
I went to check on my last hen and she has at least 3 fuzz balls!!! There are 7 more eggs under her! They are buff Orpington and Rhode Island Red. Now we have to somehow put them back in the coop. She’s been hiding in my hay barn (almost empty and wayyyy to close to the ground)
We have 15! raccoons and at least 3 foxes plus umpteen opposums. Not safe to be loose 😯

I love little chicks when the hen hatches them it is especially nice. We had a broody hen that hatched eggs in January! A little too cold then...

One hen hatched one chick last October 31! Luckily we had temps in the 70s for a week. But January, wow!!
I’ve never left a hen take care of them until then. It’s surprising how quickly they grow up!
