Anyone have any experience with ICF construction? I'm intrigued by the idea but would like to hear from people with real world experience. I would also be very interested in recommendations for an ICF architect and contractor in SW Missouri.

LauraD, ICF = Insulated Concrete Form Wanderer, No personal experience, but I have intrigued by them. Seems to be more expensive to build, but less expensive to heat an cool the home. There is lots of information on the internet about them. Ed and Laurie Essex, in Washington, built one an has a nice blog about it. Here is a link to their site. HTH, Keith

People used to use the 2" blue foam board on the outside of a concrete wall for insulation but not so much anymore. I wouldn't think the price would be that far out of line considering the convenience of having it preformed.

I am traveling but we built an ICF plus solar home in 2012. I can chat about it when we return. Any specific questions?
