How is everyone doing with getting their lives organized? Let's encourage each other and give tips to help all be "company ready." It's hard in the summer when there is so much to do outside. I have a lot to do there, so want to spend at least 10 minutes (that's all I can spare) to pulling weeds, weed whacking,etc...
Here is my accountability list: This weekend I gave the kitchen a thorough cleaning, washed the floor. Hauled the garbage to the dump. Washed the clothes (still need to be put away). My daughter has been refinishing a desk in the basement and has given me a list of things she has passed by that can be donated. I hope she will help do it!
Here is this weeks Flylady zones for those who are interested in that method.
This week we are in Zone 3: The Bathroom and One Extra Room
This month's Habit is: Swish & Swipe
Monday: Do the 27 boogie fling in the bathroom and the other room you choose (I am choosing the office). This means that you spend no longer than 10 minutes finding 27 things to throw out. I know I have old medicines that need to go. Then fill a bag or box with 27 things to give away. Don't think--just do it quickly. I don't know that i have 27 things in the bathroom to donate, but my closet sure has some.... In the other room you choose: clean a "hotspot" that has a lot of clutter . For me, that will be the top of the desk!
Tuesday:Clean your trash can. I usually fill the trash can with soapy water and use this to clean the floor. Look in your other room and remove things that could be donated or thrown away
Wednesday:Lookup and clean the cobwebs off the ceiling and the curtains. I need to dust the top of my upper cabinet in the bathroom. Then do the 27 boogy fling in the other room.
Thursday:Wash the light switches, handles, doorknobs and walls of the germy fingerprints with cleaning product.
Friday:Quickly declutter your other room.

This is a great thread for me. I have been working on decluttering this year. It's a slow going process but it is definitely happening. I went through my closet a couple of months ago and donated 9 garbage bags. I was embarrassed to think I had that much stuff and it still left me with plenty to wear. I will admit it's so freeing now to choose clothes. Anyway, my projects this week are my husbands office/ dog bedroom. Haha. They share a room. It needs a deep cleaning and I know there's things that need purging in there. Also, we are purging satellite so I need to get that all unhooked and that will leave me free to move my LR furniture any way I want it and not be bound by a cable. Ohhhh the possibilities. . We also have a 1200 sq ft barn/ storage bldg/ workshop and it has become a nightmare. So we are slowly working on it as well. Finally, out wood pile fell. Ugghh long story but it needs reorganizing. So most likely the boy will be working on that some this month.

Starting the pantry revamp today. Emptying it completely out so we can redesign the shelving to make it work better for our needs. Then the fun task of sorting it all out and restocking as needed. I've been wanting to tackle this project for awhile as I can no longer tolerate the unorganized mess!!

You are inspiring me. I have been eyeing the pantry with a mind to organize clean and purge. I was looking for something and found a bunch of things that were really old! Forgotten!
Any ideas about how you organize the pantry? I like Melissa's idea for storing canning rings on a unraveled hangar. I also need to find a better solution for storing larger aluminum foil/waxed paper boxes.

midtnmama, I'm so glad to be back with you on this cleaning and organizing. Back when this board was started and you begin posting the daily/monthly cleaning zones I was inspired to get going with my own home. A computer problem and changes in our ISP kept me from logging on. Anyway, I'm back and still plugging away at the decluttering, but I am doing better with my version of the zone cleaning method. Thanks so much~
Also, want to say I appreciate the others who share their cleaning/organizing/decluttering chores. It's inspiring!

***Defrosted the big freezer today. Will be writing down the ready made meals I have in there so that we can eat for the next couple weeks from the freezer. Feeding the freezer burned stuff to the animals. It will be nice to have an organized freezer....
***I am planning to use the time that I would have used for cooking in the next two weeks to apply that to decluttering and cleaning. I hope to make myself accountable here as to what I tossed/threw away.
***Washing clothes 2 loads, one still on the line, one waiting to be folded and put away. ***Stripped bed ***Finished altering a very nice, larger-than-my-size dress for work and it looks like a million dollars (all for 7$) Hope to do this weekend: ***Organize my mending to take in car/bus to finish. ***Backup computer ***Research making Christmas cards online with pictures

midtnmama in another organizing thread you were posting areas to clean. I know it's work for you but if you are ever so inclined I would love to see that every month. stuff like that is good for me. No pressure though. I understand how it is to be busy and not enough time.

Melco: Not just me, but several people using different methods were sharing their methods. I try to do the flylady method and have been trying to post the weekly tasks. By sending 10-15 minutes a day on these zones, over the course of the year, you will hit everything. It may take you longer than a year to get it all done, but you are moving productively towards your goal. You reminded me that I forgot to put the deep cleaning tasks for last week. So I'll try to do that for this week.
After you finish your 10 minutes, you can keep going and when finished with the daily tasks, you move to the deep cleaning list for that zone in that week.

Having just moved to our new homestead, we decided to do some work for the neighbors. Chainsawed some blucky bushes. Mowed the grass that was up to our knees. Powerwashed the back porch and sidewalks. Had a dumpster brought in to clean up trash. Been a busy little beaver! I finally had the nerve to post about the whole process on my blog.

I've tossed my actual cleaning schedule for this week. Too much to do outside and I just came in from the garden and am headed back out to pick beans. Then, there are the buckets of blueberries, zucchini, pickles.....well, you all get the picture - I'm sure many of you are looking at the same thing.
Anyway, I am able to stay on task with the decluttering. I pick an area, box, drawer and go through it. I am trying to get rid of 20 things a day and am doing well so far this week. Thanks for letting me share and feel somewhat accountable.
farmchix, that is very kind of you to help a new neighbor.

Moved a big "holder" of kids balls, bats, badminton, frisbees to the basement and got it out of the garage and put in the basement. It was in the way. Our kids are grown and gks don't live nearby. I covered the open "toy holder" with plastic bags to keep them cleaner. It's an unfinished basement and very dusty/dirty. Threw out some of the toys and washed everything. That will make it easier to get to our tools. Future plans are to organize the garden tools. ------------- Put up two bags of fall/winter tights and my warm fleece pajamas into my fall/winter box of clothes at the top of my closet. That cleared up space on the floor of my closet making it easier to get to things I need to toss. I am taking the 27 boogie fling seriously this weekend in my master bedroom, bath and closet! I'd like to do 27 each!! --------------------- **Put seven grocery store sized bags of clothes and other donated items that will go to goodwill this week in the trunk.OUT. OF.THE.HOUSE! **Dusted the Bedroom (after decluttering surfaces) **Swept the bedroom Floor **Cleaned the bathroom **swept and washed bathroom floor **Washed bedroom windows **27 Boogie Fling in Garage **27 boogie Fling in Basement **27 Boogie Fling in the master Closet **27 Boogie Fling in the bathroom Whew!

Just checking in........
I'm not getting much done as far as extra cleaning. The garden, fruits and vegetables won't wait. But, I am sorting and either tossing or donating at least 10 things a day. Mostly tossing!
