A quick and short update. We have friends visiting. They arrived on Wednesday. So Thursday at 12:30 am our ewe, Mia, went into labor. At 2:30 am we pulled a boy as she was not making any progress. She also had a girl soon after. Both covered in meconium. I worked on the boy for two hours. Warming him up. Putting molasses on my finger and wiping in his mouth. And finally at 4:30 am he was holding his head up and had enough strength to suck. So I got some colostrum in him. And now he is doing great. Also had another ewe have triplets last night. Will be keeping a close eye on them to make sure everyone is getting enough to eat.
One more ewe to go. Will be adding pictures after our company is gone. They leave tomorrow.

Our first company left on Saturday about noon after helping us worm and trim hooves. What a help two extra pair of hands was. Another set of friends stopped by on Sunday to hold lambs. Pictures are taken. Tomorrow I will post. Also got our taxes done and electronically submitted. And in my spare time I have been skirting and washing fleeces the last four days. I am just a bit behind on skirting my spring fleeces.

The four moms and 8 lambs are going outside in the loafing area during the day. Lamb races have started. More pics on camera. DH has not downloaded them yet.

ketoriverfarm,
WHICH ONE? LOL
MALE IN PICTURE is still intact and his name is Judge, (use to have a female named Jury) get it? if anything came onto property they would have to answer to the judge and jury as to why they were there...LOL Judge is the father of all our pups born on our farm....
MALE that lives on same farm as Judge, it is his son and his name is Cooper....
Female that lives on farm with Judge (preggo I believe) her name is Dorie.......
OUR other farm.................
Son of Judge's Named One Eye
Son of Judge's Named Bashful
Son of Judge's Named Cooper, (yes we have a cooper at each farm, but they don't know that because they stay at their own farms and never change)
HOME Site...............
Female RETIRED from having pups and spayed Named Keela
So we have a total of 7 Great Pyr's and six more dogs that are not Pyr's....LOL MY Pyr's ALL do their jobs and are great at it and I never have to worry about anything, NEVER!!!!!!

shellymay, oh my goodness. Seven. That is a lot of dog food. We have one great Pyr. He was a rescue and is good about alerting us when coyotes, bears and strange dogs are around. He lived his first year of life in the city in an apartment. What were they thinking. Then he was tried on several farm situations, but no one worked with him. And the last one was a raw milk dairy with lots of people coming to the farm for milk and eggs. No -lots of strangers and an unsupervised LGD does not work either. Our Pyr is always outside. We have to keep him away from the loafing area while the ewes are protecting their babies. But when we get past that stage he can go into the pasture with them. We also have free range chickens that he ignores. He is a good dog but we have worked with him. And he is a work in progress; since he was not initially raised with animals.

ketoriverfarm, KUDOS to you for taking in the Rescue and working with him, takes a lot of time and commitment but the rewards given back when things are working out like they should are priceless....
No worries on feeing the 13 total dogs we own, we have two incomes and it is just me and DH at home now (kids gone) and we do make money off of farm, Heck if we die we can't take our money with us so I will spend mine on dogs and sheep Like my logo says don't breed them if you can't feed them! Goes for animals and humans

They are darling! Don't feel to bad about all the boys, when we started raising horses years ago the first 29 were colts! Our first filly was foal number 30.

Oh my goshness, they are so cute and all look happy and healthy and that is so important and comes before their sex, so I hope you feel blessed with what you have as they look great girl Oh by the way with your barn set up there I would not be afraid of lambing in January or Feb with that set up, just sayin

shellymay, trying to get caught up. Hope to sell at least one boy for breeding stock. Most will be meat. We will keep at least one for us to eat. Our favorite is lamb chops . And lamb burgers. Our wether is quite old and is not looking like he is doing that well. So we may keep one guy, castrate him and use him for both fiber and as a companion. I may have a buyer for my two girls. I have three lambs that would be great colors for fiber. Sigh! We shear in late September so I will have 11 lamb fleeces to choose from. I get first pickings before I sell. Went to town today and picked up a bag of lamb replacement. We are supplementing the newest set of triplets, they were not gaining weight so needed a bit more food.

ketoriverfarm, congratulations on all of the lambs being happy and healthy. Love the pic of you with your arms full, and your dh looks like a pretty happy camper with his trips, too. Theo's coloring is so cool - love the combo of color and pattern. Is he a potential keeper?
