Been tearing out floors that got wet and decided to collapse because they used particle board. There just seems like there would have been so many other options.
Heck at our Cabin I used OSB that got wet while we was building and it held up well.

No board holds up to repeated wet dry cycles very well. But particle board and hardboard are the worst. They just disintegrate first time they get seriously wet.
I've seen many mobile homes where people have replaced particle board floors with plywood. You'd think they would just offer option for plywood when original person ordered it. Cant be that much more expensive if done with plywood when originally built.

Had Particle Board that immediately broke down.
We was going to go with Plywood but was talked into using 3/4 inch T/G OSB, said that it will hold up. Floor Joist are in Good Shape. Actually most the Particle Board is Good but going to replace it. Cover the Kitchen with Linoleum and Front Room with Floating Wood Floor.
Worse is one Room we are going to have to Jack up Ceiling and Roof. Tear everything out and replace.
