I saw her earlier in the day, off by herself and went to check on her. Her mouth had green spittle around it and her nose felt cool to the touch.
Later, she disappeared for awhile and I later found her part way under the bridge that crosses the creek. She called out to me occasionally as
I worked nearby, but I didn't think much more about it....
Just now I went back to look for her and once again she'd disappeared from beneath the bridge and was now found crying behind the dirt piles nearby.
She was also grinding her teeth and couldn't get to her feet without assistance; even then she was wobbly and then sank down on her front legs.
Again, the dried spittle and this time the nose was ice cold and her eyes appeared to be somewhat sunken as well. I scooped her up and carried
her back up towards the barn area and along the way she cried and then stiffened up on several occasions and when I lay her down, she just stared off ... non-focusing.
I'm afraid she's dying and I haven't a clue as to what is might be. This is the little twin, whose brother and her became orphans
the day after their mom (Ruby) delivered them a bit over a year ago. Any ideas as to what can or should be done? Or is it too late?

Nevermind.....
She's gone.
She was my favorite and she knew it too... would 'usually' come when I called her.
I'm done with goats...can't take this kind of emotional roller coaster anymore.
They go up for sale tomorrow.

copperkid3, I'm so sorry. I'm pretty sure I'd have to give them up for at least a time as well. Too much heart pain for you and I'm so sorry.

copperkid3, can I join the others in saying how very sorry I am at the news of Dora's passing? I can understand how it would make you want to sell the others to avoid more heartache. I hope you find wonderful homes for them - knowing that they'll be cared for and loved as you did will help ease the pain of them going. Thinking of you at this sad time.

So sorry to hear this copperkid3. While I can certainly understand wanting to sell the goats, don't do anything too hasty. Take some time when this latest loss isn't so fresh and then make up your mind or you may regret it. Prayers for you and good luck with whatever decision you make.

((hugs)) That is such a disheartening situation, especially with her talking to you the way she did. (A few years back I had a similar situation and discovered it was probably from a copperhead bite.) Copperkid3 I agree with countrymom22, when she suggested you wait to do any selling. You may later wish you had.
