Halfway there.. Taking a break. I'm going to have to clean out those under cabinets and paint them eventually. So the old sink was cast iron.. well I found out when I tried to lift it. Should be able to disguise the laminate issues. Going to replace it in time. Just not yet, other things to do/prepare first.

That would be a great sink to put a garbage disposal in to grind apples for cider....James

Ho ho! Yes it is the right color. Perhaps someone will take it before it's picked up by the disposal guys! I'll put a little 'free' sign on it.

Well @jwal10, I put a little sign on it because of what you said, and a fellow in a pickup just drove off with it before I could even put the other one in. Guess someone else liked those apples too.

Too much damage to the lip of the countertop, have to be more careful next time if there is one, and clamp the laminate down and use a finer saw blade, perhaps that would've done the trick. Going to wait till tomorrow when the stores open and pick up some wood to build a frame to hide the damage until I replace the countertop. Well I've planned on replacing it, just not yet, and still not just yet, so no big deal.

Well it's getting there.. had another little hitch, one of the shut off valves that had worked fine earlier, started leaking so I just got back from the hardware store, with a new pair and a tiny overpriced pipe wrench to make it easier getting on and off. Thing cost half as much as my 4 footer, so I like to think I'll be returning it.
At least I learned some lessons from the bathroom sink/vanity installation and know enough to bring the old valve to the hardware store to match it, and found out about the leak in the first place by tying paper towels around the valves and checking them later the night before.
Never thought I'd be learning this much plumbing but glad to at this point.

I am feeling a little silly the way I wipe it down to keep it shiny, but I guess that's how it is with something new. Thanks be to God for all His gifts great and small. It is quite handy having the higher curved faucet, there's enough room for a dish towel on it -- doesn't block the faucet at all. Easier to fill up a glass of water or a watering can too. So practical as well as aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The under sink looked so bad too because it was clear it had never sat flat enough to prevent water from getting in there, and when it did it warped the counter all the more so it didn't sit flat at all, and then of course, it was going to be quite a mess inevitably. I wonder a little whether it would be worth the effort for me to DIY a wood countertop to replace it.. but that would probably be more effort than necessary for me. I had thought of doing a concrete countertop until it clicked that lightweight is better.
