Ever since the breeder told us there might be one of our does that had an "oops" breeding, I have been researching the pooch test. I believe the image below indicates that the doe is indeed preggers. She is also bagging up. Fortunately, the breeder know who the culprit buck was. If you concur with my conclusion, about how far along do you think she is? If you do not concur, tell me gently. LOL Her name is Snow White.

The pooch test is good for knowing if your doe was bred or settled but if she is bagging up, you are way past the pooch test being needed.
First timers especially can vary along, with signs coming and going for a month. If the guy who sold you the girl thinks she might have been bred, he probably has a pretty good idea when it might have happened. If he ran her with the buck, there was no 'opps' about it.
I agree with @redfish, ligament reading is the surest way to know if birth is eminent. Can you handle her yet?

Are you going to keep the kids? We definitely plan to keep any does. Not sure about bucks at this point, as they don't fit into my near-term plans. The breeder knows who the offender buck was, and he jumped the fence.

She is still the most wary of the three, but they all let me handle them when they are getting their goat food, or sweet-feed. I did do a ligament check and they are still firm.

It is funny that you ask if we can handle her yet. We don't have them leash trained yet, so the way I get them back and forth from foraging areas to the main paddock is a container full of their favorite food. I just keep shaking it, and they follow like I am the pied-piper. If their attention wanes, I let them get a lick of the food and they fall right into line.

We did that last year, the wether was about 1 year old when we had him done. Just had a couple of steaks for dinner today. They make for "good eats".

I've got more browse than three girls could eat in five years. That's why I've got to build the herd up. Good suggestion on the buck.

@macmad, she is definitely bred, yes it is hard to tell on first timers when? ? but I would recommend that you keep this picture and date it, keep other notes about her as she goes through her pregnancy, some things you see or somethings she does will be repeated year after year and it will give you great advantage next time she is ready to kid.... I would like you to know this....facing the same direction as the goat, left side of goats stomach is her rumen, LEFT SIDE IS LUNCH easy to remember right, RIGHT side of goat is rearing (this is where kids are) kids rearing makes sense right, so I want you to watch her right side for the baby/babies to start kicking......I am not saying she is close now, just saying it is soooooooooooooo much fun and enjoyment/excitement when you see kids kicking inside

shellymay Great idea on dating the photo. It really is exciting watching her. It actually seems like she started walking bowlegged recently.

If she is extra young she may need calcium now. When you say legs seem to bow is that front or back?
