We got Wilma when she was 8 weeks olds. We've had her for two weeks. We were told that when she was being raised that the mama cat would not share her litter box, so the people just put newspaper down and the kittens went on that. Wilma is only about 50% "trained" to the litter box. When I put her in there she knows what to do and will go. I keep both of the boxes very clean so I can tell if she is using them, and she does, but only sometimes. She seems to like to go behind the couch and if I catch her in the act I put her right in the litter box. She gets so distracted. What do I do? I'm not here to watch her every minute. We've never had to "train" a cat to a litter box. I'm at a loss. Thank you in advance.

You may need to put her in a crate and make her use a litter box ....she will learn.....

Ok, so put her in a crate when I'm gone, and then when we're home put that up so she can us the other two litter boxes?

Make sure the boxes are close enough to her in each room that she can smell them and then go to them. I have found that very young kittens have a harder time finding that darned box, and they go where ever they can.
You can confine her to a room until she gets the hang of it fully. Or crate her, but keep her litter box close to her when she is out. Personally I like to confine or crate.
