Porky is doing well, but did we ever have a night.
Sometime around 1130, she went charging through the house. I saw that in trying to groom, she had a stitch caught around her tooth, her chest skin up against her mouth, and was gagging. It took a bit of time, but I got it loose. A half-hour later, AGAIN I wasn't having success, so I left Porky in the travel case, and went to a couple neighbors' hoping for someone to help. I saw a few lights, no voices, and no one came to the door. So I just sat with her and kept working at it. She was surprisingly cooperation, cats being cats. I tried to tighten the stitch. No go, so I cut the loop. I figured better to have a little gap than that she would do that again, maybe tear her flesh. She was certainly big-time STRESSED and PANICKING. I stayed on the couch for a couple of hours; she stayed at my feet. At 330AM, I took us both to the bedroom and closed the door. I had also put a belled collar on her, so I might hear if she got in trouble while I snoozed.
We have been back to the vet this AM. She had a dose of injectable long-acting pain medication; an OK to apply her monthly flea med and to resume her ear drops; a cone in case she starts worrying the incision again. It seems it wasn't a big deal that I cut the stitch, and nothing else was done to the incision.
Oh, and along the way, I tried calling the vet: no emergency on-call hours; called 911 asking for any overnight emergency offices: the only one is over an hour away. Tried contacting a friend on fb who volunteers at shelters, for any ideas. No other ideas.
NO plans to go out and around today after all
