got a egg yesterday, and one today--from my 5 month old banties--blue green--so it has to be from one of 2 girls--or maybe both. the nest boxes are built out the side--and no bedding in it--how did she know that was what it was for--but they have shavings now only a few people will understand how exciting this is==

I totally know how excited you are ceresone ! I've only been raising chickens a wee 8 years but the excitement at seeing those first little eggs from the young'uns never ceases... Then later when you get some of those enormous ones with the double yolks... Heck, as of late I'm excited to just see an egg around here! We've got some molting going on and my hens are getting older... I haven't had any new ones for a couple of years... I can't wait to get some chicks next year! ~Mari

If you don't have a rooster, there are no grandkids! Besides, do you want to hatch out chicks this time of year? I suppose it depends on where you live.
Congratulations. I'm surprised the egg was so big. Is that normal? Especially for a first egg?
