A lady I sold 2 of my goats to sent me a message asking what the "long patches of missing fur on her belly" are. I never noticed them - is there anything that would cause that normally?

Pictures would help.
It could be lice, nutritional deficiences, normal shedding, or her imagination

I asked her to send me some pics. I'll share them as soon as I get them. I'm pretty sure it's not nutritional deficiencies and I haven't seen any goats scratching and haven't itched myself after taking care of them.....

Long--and skinny--patches starting at belly and heading north sounds like menengial worm.

She wrote me back and said she figured out that's just where her belly touches the ground when she lays down LOL. She's having way too much fun with those goats, said her son played with them for hours yesterday and she's teaching him how to lead them.

I was thinking it would be something like that when I said "her imagination"

She wrote me back again and told me that her husband looked at it and told her it was lice - she said he's experienced with cows and they're going to "dust" her.
Wouldn't I know if my goats had lice? They don't act itchy or anything and I've never seen any bald patches. Maybe if I turn them over and look at their bellies LOL
And what do you dust them with?

I know nothing about goats--will just preface by saying that--but, some animals will also lose hair when they are stressed.

My 1st thought was lice. Often see hair loss around their ankles and sometimes belly. It's the right time of year for it.

My gals love to scratch their bellies on the milk stand. That can wear hair off pretty quickly.
Lice are hard to see. They'll probably just dust with a commercial product, and the problem should go away.
